what do you think

yes i know itsa elise but what do you think Used cars for sale | PistonHeads UK
thanks in advance

Works for me, but probably a bit different to look after than a std Exige. Not an issue for a specialist or somebody use to Elises though.

Ian

thanks for fast reply
so you think it would be a good buy??
better than a tt260 ???
what is the difference between the elise 111 and the exige engine ??

Personally yes. If you’ve never driven an Exige in anger before then trust me 190ish bhp is enough to keep you exited, at least for a year or so. Don’t think you need the extra power.

If you were watching Top Gear on Sunday the new BMW M5, that has been claimed as begining better (if not as fast on track) than the Ferrari 430 by more than one top motoring journo, did the same lap time as the S2 Exige (which I believe is slower on track than a S1). The Exige is a very fast car even without a turbo!

“Air Horns” - LOL! I’m wondering if he means the trumpets in the air box, or a darn great honker like a truck!

Not sure what “Pressure Regulator” is?

Note that the gearbox would make quite a lot of noise, great for an increased race car feel!

Ian

Oh yes, the engine.

It’ll be a K-series with similar type mods to the Exige’s. The ECU is programmable, so better basically, allowing the engine to be more easily tuned.

Ian

cheers IDG
anyone else have anything to add please

There was a discussion on one forum about the use of Motorsport Chassis and road cars - something to do with VAT - but I’m sure SWL sorted that - but might be worth just checking…

Also - is it worth 20K ? -

I wondered that Andy, but if the engine has only done 800 miles…

Ian

Also - is it worth 20K ? -

Well I wouldn’t pay that - 15K is more like it for a “bitsa” in my book Plans Motorsport CLICKY recently had it in their “For Sale” section for 22K - so the current owner is trying to get rid rather quickly after buying it.

so would it be a good buy at 15k then

I’d say yes, because at that price you could have a nice platform for an engine switch, and an engine that would fetch some money.

Ian
The S2 did it’s time on a damp track though!

Yes and the S2 is quicker than the S1

See: www.track-challenge.com
10 seconds faster at the 'ring in fact

Higher top speed = faster times at the 'ring

Any normal circuit… Jury is still out Theory would go how can something that weighs more and with the same power be faster?

Problem will be selling it as it’s not a ‘proper Exige’

I would think it cost a small fortune to put together 25K +

???

The S1 is shown as having 179ps on www.track-challenge.com

…and it’s still quicker around Hockenheim.

Looking at the date the S1 was tested it’s likely to have been on Yoko 039s too.

Couldn’t agree more.

20.5k for a motorsport Elise is just mental, considering there are exiges for sale at around 17,5k, even in the classifieds section of these forum.

Do I see several straws in your hand?

I was only pullin’ yer leg they’re both great cars

The S1 probably had the std pads on too (and they’re crap).

Lotus say the S2 is worth 2 seconds at Hethel over the original S1. However, the 48s are worth a second, so are Pagids, and then the 190 will give you give you a bit as well.

Basically, I’d say it’s down to the driver and the S2 is probably more exploitable (with its girlie ABS, etc ), easier to get the last 10% out of. Although I still think the S1 has a peachier final 10%.

Welcome to one of Exigs, com great debates, along with which colour is best!

Anyway, stop dissing the S2’s big brother!
