Weight removal again......

For now and most importantly the sound deadning on the bulkhead how easy is that to remove, just the ECU mount looks like the only real issue? Anything else I need to removed or cut around? For that matter do I remove or cut around the ECU plate?

The rear view glass I guess can be cheese wired and replaced with Polycarb (looks flat) and the old airbox mount drilled off from behind the passenger seat.

The bootlid hydroloic replaced with a removable strut, can that be done, looks like it can?

Tar guys

RLS on the lotustalk.com forum sell a removable anodised aluminium strut. link below fella

RLS prop rod

Excellent, thanks for the link .

6/10 pound saving. Wow not just half a pound. How many seconds a lap is that worth. Just been looking at that sound deadening myself and decided to leave it alone.

One tenth more than half a pound then

When you look at the Cup 260 spec & weight savings ‘admitted’ by Lotus some of the measures taken don’t actually save all that much.

I always figured the sound deadening in the engine bay must have some heat shielding behind it which i’d rather leave protected?
That strut thing takes the piss, remove the lot and have a cardboard tube cut to the right length you leave in the pits S1 stylee. Free, ultra light weight (0kg!), and you can have a longer one to hold the boot open more to make it easier to work on.

Hang on I’m looking at the bigger picture and getting what I can out as all of the obvious stuff has already been done less the AC which I just can’t bring myself to do. I’d left some odds and ends in but have since got a little bored so out came:
Foam under roll bar
Boot rear and base carpet (left in foam)
Front interior part of roof
Foot rest (velcro’d)
That so far is 3.5kg. De-cat may save another 1.5kg and battery jacket I’m making out of Ali so another 1kg

With the boot lid it’s not just about the rod (yes that will go completely), but the lid itself I’ve got plans for… I’m not going down the Reverie route it’s just too expensive and not my Cuppa tea looking either. I’ve looked at the 260 lid also and don’t believe there to be any if hardly any weight saving at all…similar to my 260 seats I guess which maybe going also. As for the glass, that just looks a piece of cake no matter what and the sound deadening I’ve been told to leave well alone. Lastly will be to chassis mount a rear wing with JSR while the other work’s being done.

So togeter yep be good for a few seconds I reckon…I could super charge it Will

Oh right, so your doing something like Will and getting rid of the hinges and mesh and securing it with aerolatches? Stop John banging his head on your spoiler at least!
Surprised your not replacing the window with a sheet of carbon fiber with a skull and cross bones on it.

Lol anyone who looks in the engine bay gets a knock off that not just John. The window will be replaced with either Polycarb or Sheet Ali…I can’t recall having a use for it since removing the rear view mirror or whilest it was there for that matter! Areolatches are not comfirmed yet mate and still looking for a wing?

Don’t tempt me…

Hey Jonny, if you have the time, take a look at the following post on our french forum elise.ch (rapidos - Page 6 - Forum.Elise.ch), it was a preparation (“Loose weight quest”) on a speedster done by the owner… perhaps it can gives you some inspiration.

For the bootlid, I think someone has done in carbon (a simple bar).

Thanks Fred.

Are you to take delivery in November, it’ll be ready ?
