Well since my gearbox failure I have decided to remove some weight from the car to stop some of the stress on it.
I fitted my Odyssey Extreme Racing 25 battery, nice easy job as it fits laying down in the original clamp, I even managed to fit the cover back over it.
I don’t want to spend a fortune removing more weight but already have got
240 Cup wheels
Full 2bular Exhaust including manifold
Odyssey Extreme Racing 25 battery
So what next cost versus weight?
Do what I am doing and get one of these…

I also have a Concept2 Model D for sale 500
Air Con, but that is a bit of a loss for driving it to circuit and I can imagine isn’t the easiest to reinstall if needed.
I am told lots of stuff can be lost from the car once the clams are off, sound proofing etc, I guess the guys who have done it can comment more but I think it is a case of lots of little savings adding up.
Not cheap, but the oil coolers may be replaced by the cooling system they are now offering on the Evora and 2-11.
Got a Marin Quake 5 myself, not too much to shed myself
Forgot I also already have
ally belled AP’s all round
Proalloy fueltank
Oil coolers seem a good plan, I always worry the oil is not hot enough except in summer
Probably right about the lots of little savings make quite a difference, think I will take out the seats and remove the carpet from under and behind and the stuff in the boot too.
Not sure I could live without aircon though it was great going to Spa
Without sounding like your dad  the best weight loss has gotta be from yourself (not that you a fat b’stard) you will feel better and go faster (and will be the cheapest, but dullest option).
… says me who do with losing a few kilo’s ‘here and there’…
I went through all this last year when i was sprinting at Curborough.
Taking out the radio and speakers saves a few Kg’s. Depends if you like listening to music while you drive !!
Did you have the lightened flywheel put in when you had the gearbox replaced ??
(I’ve done : 2bular GT3 backbox and sports cat, odessey small battery, Fidenza light flywheel, remove radio and speakers, ally belled brakes, engine bay side panels, forged wheels. Then when on track: boot carpet, tools, tire weld & number plates).
Agree that the laminova oil cooler would be lighter than the front mounted duel oil coolers, I haven’t done this yet. I can’t decide if i should keep modding my car (SC etc) or save up for a 2-11.
I think a lightened flywheel would be worth the cost as I’m told the stock Toyota one is very very heavy. Plus its rotational mass.
The stock 2zz one isn’t that heavy. The lightened ones are a kg or 2 lighter though. I did it when changing the clutch so no extra labour cost.
It doesn’t make as noticable difference as it does when you put a lighter one on a K series.
Sadly I did not have one to hand when the gearbox came out (also no money to buy one either was feeling very poor) The gearbox will be out again in the future so I will plan it better next time, there must be other simple stuff other than the radio, can’t miss my tunes on long journys.
ipod!
Chris which clutch mate?
I’ve been running the Helix uprated cover plate and organic plate.
When that’s worn out i’m going to have a go with the sprung cerrametalic one. (either TRD or Helix)
The organic one will still spin sometimes on full on starts when sprinting (about 5.5k rev’s). Its been really good apart from that.
