Being relatively new to this forum and Scottish Elises I’ve been spending some time trawling through past posts to generally get a feel for what owning a Lotus is all about. One thing that crops up with predictable regularity is the obsession with the weight of the car. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve got no issues with the whole lighter car = faster car equation. That’s a given. But it does make me chuckle when someone justifies an investment in a modification which would have negligible improvement in power but uses weight loss to justify the purchase.
My point is that I reckon that the biggest weight reduction I could effect on the car would be to lose 2-3 stones and get down to my fighting weight. Then, perhaps, improve my driving skills so that any further weight reductions would be demonstrable through improved lap times. Only then would all the investment in ‘carbon this’ and ‘titanium that’ show some benefit.
C’mon folks just admit it, what it all boils down to is that for the majority of us (racers excluded), we just like buying and fitting new bits for the car and will use any argument, reasoned or otherwise, to justify our indulgence.
Anyhoo, If my willpower prevents the weight loss then I guess I’ll need to start looking the more power = faster car equation and look at performance upgrades
Russ I’m amazed a class A car can pull your lardy northern arse at all!!!
lol
Brummie Boy
After all the bragging you do, I thought the only jogging you did was horizontal!
Or did you mean dogging?
PS Careful, or Russ will be offering you a bag of nutz!
Bragging, you won’t catch me bragging, not being the driving god that is old “Burried Treasure” himself.
Pesky, didn’t you tell me off once for posting pictures of the natural habitat of the pubic lice?!?!
Granted my picture was like the desert version as there weren’t many pyabs on display. Probably like Russ, I’m sure his mrs told me he shaved his pubes when I saw her last!!!
LOL, Russ the hardened camper. Last time at Brands when he was camping he came running into the hotel at the first sign of a dark cloud and they slept 6 to a bed in a hotel room Golding sorted out for them. lol
From what I heard they all shared the same bath towel, and with Russ’s lice, that can’t be a good thing!!!
