Yesterday Mrs P & I visited Nick Mason’s Ten Tenths collection , I am left in amazement how comprehensive it was. I know NM from my racing days , and after Pink Floyd et al…
He has amassed a wonderful collection of Ferrari’s , Bugatti’s , Lola’s , Cobra, D Type,Maserati Birdcage, Frazer Nash and Ferrari 250GTO plus all sorts of quirky stuff, and awards etc … Really good day out . We went with 10 others from the MAC .
Sounds ace , just noticed you have chassis no3 of the GTs , funny I was talking to someone that had chassis no3 , turns out there could be two of them , you had yours from new ?
Fab - nice one
Great stuff. Very envious.
Podger - what did you race and when??
We used to race FF in the early 80’s
Been there, done that…
It is, indeed, a magnificent collection. The beauty of it is that Nick often uses cars from his collection on the road and in competition.
seen both his GTO and F40 on the road and at shows before, just point my Dad to his site to offer my Mum’s newly renovated 1962 Austin Seven (Mini) for film and TV work
Is 10 10ths at the London site?
No, mine was originally owned from new by Chris GT on here he bought from Leeds and then Nick Whale was involved somehow , when he was in Bromsgrove, then Alistair, on here owned it, and he traded it for ? And then I bought it from the dealer Murray Lotus So I know the provinence , and I have ALL the history and paper work from Lotus, so I know mine is No3 . simples
Nick Mason’s son has a nice blue Austin 7
No it’s at a location in Gloucestershire
A guy called Jim on seloc was telling me that he had no3 then sold it , a no3 was for sale later but it when he had a look at it it wasn’t his old car , he says he since found out that the dealers promised and had taken two deposits on the no3 car by mistake when new , both customers threatened to pull out if hey couldn’t have no3 as promised so naughty Lotus made two , I have no idea if this is true , just thought It was a good story and wondered if you had heard about it , if it is true I wonder if they made a no4 or missed it out
No never heard of that story!! And it’s never ever raised it’s head before on Exiges.com Sounds like a SELOC legend to me
The dealer from whom Jim bought his car would have been JCT in Leeds.
