I sadly need a new crank for my engine rebuild, anyone got one they want to part with?
I know it is a long shot…
New from Toyota 522 + vat
Short engine (block crank rods pistons), new not rebuilt 1700+ vat
Less 250 for old short block if returned in one piece
Ade, now is your chance to stroke it… careful, I didn’t mean like that
Take the opportunity to go for a longer throw crank / 3zz option.
There’s no replacement for displacement
As i understand it the 2ZZ has 85mm stroke and the 3zz has 81.5mm.
The 1zz has a 91.5 mm stroke, but not sure if the crank will be good enough, Frank???
Happy to be corrected though…
I looked into the stroker options when rebuilding mine. General consensus seemed to be not to do it unless dropping the rev limit. It also required new flywheel etc so worked through a fair bit more expensive. Other bits to spend the money on.
Ade for what it’s worth I ended up going with a new short block rather than new crank and liners.
Noo… Don’t stroke it …
The beauty of the 2zz is the ability to rev .
Why throw that away for a tad more poxy torque ?
…
Just my opinion
Ps.new short block is deffo what I’d go for unless you need low comp pistons for big boost …and then you’d need to turbo it anyhow.
Anything we should know?
Funny enough I may just have one!!
I’ll ring you later
Also need a bottom pulley and bottom timing chain gear
Just bought all that new from Stourbridge Lotus Ade. I can’t decide if to use the block I bought second hand, use my own block or buy new! The block I purchased is being looked at (not sure I can use that word anymore) as we speak. There is some very light scaring, actually I may post the pics in my thread.
I may have those parts, I digress…let you know?
ok, have an option from Gav as well and if that pans out it might put me in a much better place as it might give me all the bits I need.
Are you not going to sleeve your block?
Dunno mate…options…
