Absolutely bloody mental
AWESOME!!!
That guy had balls, he was properly on it with many a lampost / tree not to far away!!
Thats what we need back in the WRC, RWD cars, tail happy monsters, that will get people watching again…
Happy memories - I used to do the Cotswold Championship in a car just like that in the early nineties (mainly co-driving).
Also had a rally prepped RS2000 as my roadcar at that time. Probably the car I miss most!!
Arh Sutton Park, gone are those days
Brill!!!
Mmmmmm… Off to my nearest ‘RED’ driving school now…
Both engines sounded the same too!
I used to adore these cars. Best I could stretch to was a Mk2 Mexico…I bought it new in 1976 and immediately did this to it.
I also had a Mk 1 Mexico in Modena Green…
A 1600 sport was the best i could afford, this is not mine as i can not find a photo but it was just like it except it was green.
1600 Sport mine was Red 1700 Stage 3 40’s etc. would have loved an RS or mexico but I could not afford either
Red MK1 Mexico (with Cibie driving lamps), occupied my garage in 1978
Your showing your age there uncle P.
A grfiter occupied my garage (well mum and dads garage) in 1978
In the mid 70’s I idolised the Mk1 Escort and in particular the Twin Cam, never even came close to owning one, but saw only the one in my local High Street at the time.
2 years ago on the way to LM07 we witnessed a stranded Mk1 Twin Cam at the first fuel stop at Calais - a beauty of car and one that to this day ‘moves me’…
My greatest ever achievement in a Mk1 Escort was a 1300E !
My greatest ever achievement in a Mk2 Escort was the limited run Harrier !!
Happy days
I had a Red Mk11 Escort 1300 for a couple of years … fitted a 28/36 Weber ( as you did ) which was hopelessly tuned as one of the pump jets fired up rather than down … causing various fires … One of which was put out by a farmer with a milk churn full of water … ( was doing a road rally in Wales at the time … ) Happy days !
