VHPD Refresh

Apologies for my lack of mechanical knowledge.

I have been told by MSCï¿½s that two of my piston rings are warn (no jokes please) and that compression has dropped in two cylinders, they suggested that an engine refresh was in need.

I have mailed Dave at DVA power. The reason for approaching Dave was when using the search function his name always popped up and his post were the most informative, plus he seems to specialise in this type of work. Unfortunately, and I think I am right in understanding that he would require JUST the Engine and not the car I.e. I would need to remove the engine and send him just that.

Not having the mechanical knowledge to do this myself can any one suggest where I could get the engine removed in order to send it to DVA to carry out the work? Or indeed suggest someone similar to Dave (Specialist) who could remove the engine for me as well as carry out the work.

I enquired to Plans Motorsport a few months ago and they wanted ï¿½800 to remove engine and refit when engine is returned . This included all gearbox,engine & coolant fluids.

In most towns there are a few small, reputable, independant mechanics who would take your angine out and put it back for a lot less than ï¿½800. After all its only a Rover at the end of the day, so for a decent mechanic it’ll be a doddle.
