VHPD and Quaiffe gearbox value??

Hi, first post on here. Come on here occasionally to look at the classifieds. I’m thinking about buying an S1 Elise which has a VHPD engine in it which I’ll want to sell to carry out a Honda conversion. Just trying to find out what it would be worth. Have looked through the classifieds and 3,500 seems to be the going rate, but want to ask here aswell. The spec is as follows:

Sport 160 engine converted to VHPD 190 spec, with throttle bodies,
17.5k miles,
Quaiffe ultra close ratio gearbox
Quiffe LSD
Quaiffe gun drilled drive shafts
340R manifold
Factory GEMS ECU

I’m led to believe the Quiaffe gearbox retails at over 3k brand new, but not sure for definate. Any help is appreciated.

Cheers

Pete

Tricky one I think. I have heard of several VHPD’s going for around the 1,000 mark and gearboxes of your spec about the same. 340R manifold was standard on a Mk 1 Exige.

Plus if the engine has done 17.5k without being rebuilt then it will be on its last legs anyway.

If you have recipts for work done etc, then that will have a big bearing on the value in my opinion.

Ok, thanks Sean. Interesting to know.

id be interested if youre definate on the sale

Went to see the car today and it’s very nice. I’m led to believe the engine has only done a few thousand miles since the conversion. It is certainly a clean example. It is running on the factory ECU so still has the lumpy idle but seems to run very well. The gearbox sounds essence with the straight-cut box. If I do buy the car the engine can be heard running in the car before a sale. Still in the final stages of selling my car at the moment so haven’t got the funds to buy this yet, but will post when I do.
