opened my boot today for the first time in a while and it was sodden, really wet and smelling of mould. lifted out the lining at the base and there were pools of water. Am guessing it must be a leak in the seal as I dont remember water getting in when opening the boot and I certainly would have noticed that much water. Anyone else had a similar problem? Anybody seen any recent news on the forthcoming Esprit. Dealer suggested that prices will start at 45k, but he’s not proven himself as very reliable with lotus information.
sounds like the drain hole at the apex of the engine lid is perhaps blocked or the rubber pipe that shuld be connected might have come loose ? or isn’t routing outside ?
mind you they all get a bit wet in there, but you could check these things anyway ?
I have the same problem with my 04 Exige, the boot is always wet, and i have condensation in the rear lights
The drain holes that you describe are clear in mine
I was thinking of putting some 1/2’ foam strip around the area on the boot lid where it sits onto the seal.
Has anyone else had this problem and resolved it
Similar problem with the 111R. In this case the drain holes in the gutter align with the front edge of the boot apeture, with nothing at the rear (or apex), as without any piping would drain direct into the boot at this point…which is exactly what happens
It happens every time the car is parked (in the rain) or washed pointing on a upward slope. The water that runs into the gutter behind the drain holes reaches overflowing point before it gets to the holes IYSWIM. As the seal is pants, the water just runs over & into the boot.
The only fix is to make sure the car is pointing downwards when parked in the rain or being washed.
Tim.
…After all, what do you expect for a 34K (new) car

forgot i was in the salon… so my comments are irrelevant as they only refer to an exige
Oi!
You mean only the S1 then The S2 may well be different to the 111R…in the boot department.
Yours sincerely,

LOL
I had this problem on my 240, the problem was finally tracked down to the rear wing supports not being sealed and letting water run down past the bolts and straight into the boot.
Worth checking?
My car has sat on my drive every night for 2 years with not a drop of water in he boot. (flat drive)
Must be something not fitted correctly on yours.
