Very excited newbie question!

Hello people.

Im so excited! I have my very first test drive of a lotus tomorrow and to make it even better is the Exige S!

Only downside is i cant afford one! But i know that once i’ve driven one, I think i might be disappointed when i but an Exige S2 as its not going to feel near as fast! (Reason for buying Exige S2, its affordable for me)

Is it possible to modify the Exige so that it has more power than the Exige S. I know there is a supercharger kit, but im not lookin at spendin that kind of money. Maybe more like 1.5 - 2K

Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated!

i’m no expert but i wouldnt say that you’d be able to get a good S/C install for anywhere near that money.
jamie got his done in europe, switzerland i think.looks like a really good set up,sounds awesome and flies round the track.it wasnt cheap though!!
why dont you consider investing the 2k in suspension mods and driver training, most cost effective way of being a faster better driver.any old fool and floor it in the straight but make a complete hash of it in the corners and lose all the time the mad up!
i’m not saying your a fool or anything!!
best of luck

If i remember right, Jamies s/c kit cost him about 7.5k wish i could afford it as i did look like a good bit of kit!
I want to make the car quick in a straight line as my mate has a TVR t350 and i want to be able to give him a good run for his money!

yeah was about 7.5k IIRC
i’d rather buy a standard s2 for say 23k then spend the 7.5 on the benami and get about 265 bhp than get the standard exige s.plus you get a lovely drive to switzerland!!
i’ve seen jamie up at knockhill and the car is a superb piece of kit, plus his install doesnt have that cooler in the way of the rear view mirror!!
dont worry about the tvr mate,it’ll break down after a lap anyway!!just get him to a twisty circuit and show him who’s boss!
i was thinkin though…do you like the exige s1?you could do a conversion

Surely you’ll catch up with him soon enough when he’s pulled over at the side of the road on the phone to the AA.

Stuart, On track, I think you will be surprissed that the “s” is not that much faster than a standard exige. The extra torque does make it easier to drive on the road. Some good Ohlins suspension and brake mods will decrease your lap times by more that the basic supercharger.

Driver training can also make a big difference. It is the component that you can take with you from car to car.

You will soon find that modifying cars to a good standard that is safe, performance enhancing and long lasting is not cheap.

Good luck with your test drive. Let us all know what you decide to do in the end !

Exige77 (No supercharger but plenty of speed !)

Welcome!

You’ll give him a run for his money, trust me. The speed difference around bends and underbraking with be considerable.

Ask Mr Ward an ex-Exiger that bought his TVR (Sargaris/350, I forget) to our Exiges.com at Donnington. He spent the day being overtaken by even std S2s.

Exiges ain’t about straightline speed - get it on track, & use it properly

Exiges ain’t about straightline speed

I beg to differ, the speed rush from your car was like nothing else, speed is most definitely part of the Exige experience .

David

David, why not get up to Donington this Sunday, & find out what Exiges are like on track? Both myself & your Unkle Sean will be happy to give you a trip out - we might even pay for your passenger wristband, in recognition of your exam success

By the way, you muppet, you’ve not told us how you did I’m sure you’re just being modest, so PM me with your results, please

but you would still be wrong

but you would still be wrong

Yep David, listen to Unkle Steve!!

Thats me just arrived home from the test drive!

All i can say is its awesome!!

Drove the Exige S first and its so quick, even in soaking wet roads. Got back to the garage and didn’t want to get out! I wanted to take it home!

Then drove the Exige, i luv it when it changes onto the second cam!! Its better than driving my civic type-r. It had the stage 2 exhaust on it which made it sound amazing! The guy in the passanger seat got a bit of a scare when i decided to give it some welly! almost spun it as the roads were soaking! Oh and no traction control!!

I just luv driving them so much! Was so disappointed that i had to drive back home in the civic!

Cant wait for the day i get my hands on one!!
