Not a fan of salesmen think they will say anything to get a sale
The better they are the worse they are if that makes any sense
The thing that I dont understand, is if they werent going to admit to crash damage in the first place, then why they didnt advertise it at a more normal price, after all its the price being so low that makes you question its integrity at all .

good point, if they had put it up at say 38995, poeple (me) may have not been so overly interested in it.
Although they are under no legal obligation to make it clear the car has been accident damaged (whether written off or not) they ARE legally obliged to disclose this when asked - very underhand!
It does also depend on IF the last owner admitted it had been stuffed? All the Lotus dealers will know the car which might be why it was out of the offical dealership chain?
It was a new chassis not a repair and all of the rebuild work was carried out at Westover in Poole not the factory. I’ve seen it when it was finished and it did look brand new (which everything bar a few bit of trim were) but I’d agree I’d always have a few doubts about it and now it’s out of warranty I’d be even more concerned, but it may well turn out to be a perfect car, you just never really know.
the seller had told me that he knew the previous owner personally so either way he was talking sh*te!!
If this had a new tub, was the Lotus Sport chassis plate transferred?
(The one indicating build number found rivetted to the passenger side).
Cheers,
Ben.
Sounds like someone somewhere is at it! The power of the forums - sounds like a narrow escape ed. Just get the one you have S/C`d, job done…
