vernier pulleys.

after reading through some posts about amazingly bad factory cam settings i am thinking i shall get some vernier pulleys and time them in properly.

i am aware this is a common modification with the emerald, but funds won’t allow that whole tuning package. what are peoples experiences in doing just this modification?

of course it will depend on just how bad the cams are timed. it would be better to check them first before i order the vernier pullies just in case it is perfect from the factory… just like my imaginary 82 deg thermostat.

get them checked first… its a worthwhile mod but not if your standard set-up is already bang-on.

I reckon you’ll be lucky if they are bang on.

My inlet cam was 12 deg out…

I had verniers fitted with the standard ECU and there was a big difference-engine smoother and revs its n*ts off-Pat at Kelvedon fitted them.

thanks for the feedback chaps, i had hoped there would also be a ‘without emerald’ sinario. how do they manage 12 deg out on the timing! i will procure some dial guages and find out how bad mine are.

my car does not like to rev up into the top end. which of course leaves me to drive around using the bottom end torque…

I had the Emerald fitted, but didnt need the verniers. It’s like a different car now.

Andy - wasn’t yours a 190 anyway?
