Has anyone any experience of running a 190ECU with vernier pulleys?
I remember reading a post ages ago about but its no longer there as i believe its out of the forum search range now

It’s got be a better set up than with the “Lotus 190 pulley”. I think SimonE runs his car with verniers.
yes I do …
However as it happened my 190 pully was almost right so adding very nears made sod all difference really …
Of course if your timing is not the best then they will have some effect I guess.
Verniers and an Emerald on the other hand …

You do, or you did? If the latter, have you bought another Exige???
Yep
190 ecu and verniers here. I thought I noticed a distinct difference when I fitted the verniers, VHPD seemed to have better torque.
Yep without doubt emerald plus verniers is the ideal combination.
Cost is a issue at the moment, and I don’t really want to chop the wiring on the car they’re going onto (have looked at making an adapter tho)
What timing has everyone used? Is it the one from Dave’s website? 120/110* (*from memory -might not be 100% correct)
I think you can use the plugs from a S/H BMW ecu instead of splicing the emerald in? - I seem to recall Esprit devised something for his rebuild and it is on his thread here or elsewhere?? - calling George…
I used DVA’s valve timing recommendations as per his website
thats the one simon - getting the 2nd hand ecu’s to butcher doesn’t seem a problem, but the cost of the emerald is at present I’m happy to run with 190ecu for the short term if the known issues can be timed out

You never know …
My point was that my timing was almost spot on so Verniers, for me, were a waste of money … now that probably happens not very often but if money is tight and you already have a 190 pully its maybe better to check the timing first and see if its way out or somewhere close …
If its way out then its going to make some difference for sure … if you dont have the 190 pully then yes its going to be the best way as you can upgrade to an Emerald later …
Andy makes a good point. My car, fitted with 190 upgrade (Lotus 190 ECU and Lotus offset pulleys), went well enough but I was stunned at how much better it was after the timing had been set spot on. It’s so important, and if the offset pulleys can’t be timed accurately then the verniers are a must have.
Mines on a 190ECU and verniers-they made a big difference mid-range with a cleaner top-end.
I fitted verniers and a 190 ECU 2 years ago. I certainly had more power than the 177, but I also had a serious overfuelling issue when on the road - possibly related to the lower temp that the remote thermostat maintains. I changed to an Emerald, much better and probably the best the car has ever run.
So I’d say well worth fitting the verniers - just to be sure the timing is as perfect as possible. If your changing the ECU the Emerald is really the best option. One of my mates has fitted a few Emeralds, he did the hard work. I did find a sheet to download that had all the correct connections - so while it’s not plug and play, fit the correct connections and double check and everything works first time.
