Can anyone confirm that the front wheel arch liners on their cars are vented in front of the wheel I presume for brake/disk cooling.
I noticed this this morning but I didn’t remember these on my previous n/a S2?
thanks

They are the exits from the oil coolers and will help (a little) with brake cooling I guess.
South’…thx again
on another point…have you driven a 911 on track at all?
could you characterise the differences…clearly carrying cornerspeed is one but e.g. braking there’s a distinct stamp & squeeze technique for 911’s but given the weight difference I’m not sure its not going to be a little too aggressive for the exige…which I thinking might respond better to a more smooth approach?
My 04 Exige has vents in front of the front wheels in the wheelarch liner.
thx JK…I clearly have the observation skills of a mole and the retentive memory of a goldfish
Done far more time in 911’s than I have the Exige… will try an help with a comparison.
The Exige is like the 911 on the brakes, just much more stable and it really responds well to short and very hard use of the brakes to get the weight forward and press the tyres into the tarmac. You’ll find you can be much more agressive on the inital turn in than a 911 as there isn’t the pendulum effect of the 911 going on.
Biggest difference is a use a different line now, turn in slightly earlier than the 911 and can be full on the power very early taking a smoother line rather than sqauring off as much as I did in the 911 to make sure I’d be straight before needing to grab the next gear on the exit.
Main difference, you can get away with really silly line changes and gear changes mid corner if necessary and easily sort out it unlike a 911 when it’s fully loaded up mid corner.
thanks for that…pleased about the brakes thing and as I suspected on the lines…I’ll test it at Bedford and hopefully stick it to those pesky GT3RS chaps! well maybe not Mr Rance but hopefully most of his buddies.
Well I’ve taken all the GT3RS’s that were at Silverstone at the beginning of the year, so at Bedford you should destroy them!!!
Just remember you can always brake later, turn in earlier and carry more speed, get it right and you pop out of each corner with 20% more speed in the bag and can get past on the straight… even if they are slightly faster in a drag race, the exit corner speed will see you past!
Ahhh the fun you can have with a SC… one day
jamie, r u still planning an aftermarket u/g? cos it is a real transformation and an absolute hoot…and I’m looking forward to veryfying South’s assertion that you can do the GT3’s with the extra. Have you experienced it first hand?
I will have some news June 17th
Bit of a curve ball even if I do say myself
Whats the spec of your car? How long you had it for? Planning on much TD action?
sorry…I swapped my n/a for a cup240 earlier this month…but prior to had been watching the boards, yours and I think speedy K 's input on the S/C thing and South raveing about the difference. And yes I/m doing bedford on Sat then OUlton, Donnington, Silverstone, Spa and Nurburg hopefully to round out the year and possibly croft, anglesey and cadwell if I can fit them in as I think they may suit the car and I loved cadwell on the bike?
you?
Croft and Donnie are great tracks. I hope to hit Oulton Park this year but there seems to be a lack of weekend dates. I am looking at tring to get there for easytracks 1st July date.
What colour is your Cup?

I’m there with Bookatrack on Sat 15th July - open pitlane
black…i chased a couple of Orange ones but missed them both in the end…mine was previously owned by a chap at lotus.
I’m at Oulton onthe 20th June with MSV. If you’ve not been it is a great track. Most of my dates are mid week but I’m leaving bookings as late as poss to accomodate work and a pal I often go with?
I am thinking about the easytrack day on 01/07/06
Cant do mid weeks at all at the moment as I am working in Dublin

That clip is from March.
I was back there again today p*ssed down all day, which was “interesting” to put it mildly, as my Yokos were somewhat worn (legal minimum at rear) before I started. Despite the weather had great fun again. I’ll put up some more clips on Google in the next few days. I’ve settled in nicely with the Exige now and love it all the more.
I’ll be back at Hock. at Whit hopefully with some sun
Edit to say: I’ve got the gears sussed pretty much now thank goodness!
Nice footage but you definitely need a bullet camera there - or at least something else that gives you a wider and possibly lower angle of view.

A bit like this maybe?

That looks better - have you thought about mounting it further back so that you get the sterring inputs also?
