I thought you had to cut a bit of panelling away? But I’m recalling that from a long time ago (virtualy all my Exige knowledge is recalled from these very pages! ).

hopefully Dave will be along to keep us honest…
Here’s the million dollar question:
Would you pay an extra 3K for an identical car with the seats and harness’s in as std (albeit slightly better condition)??
Seen the first one and very, very nice, going to see the other with the better spec on Saturday morning.
Yes you do need to cut away part of the ‘back panel’ on the sides by the roll hoop to get the harness bar fitted.
If you take out the speaker pods (temporarily if you must) it helps you to reach the bolts…

Phew, I wasn’t going mad!

If you’re using it on track you’ll really want the seats. First I’d barter and try and halve the difference, but given that you’ve yet to call an exmaple “very, very nice”, I’d probably go for the first one and see if the dealer can get you the seats cheaper. If it sells them the car I’d have thought they’d drop the profit on selling/fitting the seats.
What are their colours?

No, the std seats are pretty good on track, unless you’re small.
In that case you need a harness, whether on std seats or the race ones.
I will keep myself the std ones because they’re so comfy and seat lower.
I need as much height clearance as possible.
They’re both private sales, so I’ll have to decide if I can live with or without the seats.
The words “very, very, nice” might have been a slip of the tongue…just “very nice” will do for the first one.
I finally bought one !!!
A 190 with seats and harness’s in Quartz, 1 owner in mint condition & 7K miles.
Thanks to the advice from you guys I’ll be picking up my first Lotus in about a weeks time
and I can’t wait to get it on my favourite B road and open it up.
Once again thanks - hopefully see you guys at a track day soon.
One “final” note;
I noticed there’s a big Lotus gathering at Bruntingthorpe on the 31st of July,
can anyone forward me the link???
Congrats on your new car.
The above event is organised by http://www.seloc.org/ well worth joining.
