Upgrades

So does this comment mean that the lotus remap is the best route and will push out 260, but with pully and injectors it will make 300 bhp without another remap ???

And then would you need to start looking at extra cooling ??

So eager to find the best route for tuning !!!

It’s kind of cheating but I bought an exige s2 already modified. After looking at stock, 240s, 260s and 300s I went with an Audi engined car! I wouldn’t be put off by buying an aftermarket modified car personally (if done well), horses for courses I guess.

My cars previous owner had 4 cars over the years, all modified to 240, 260, 300 various ways…all led to engine and gearbox woes so he just decided to do it right (I hope) and ditch the entire engine and drivetrain.

yeah can’t complain with a audi lump (1.8 or 2.0?)

So many different routes !! Hard to pick the right one ?? Think the 260 is a safe bet but upgrade on cooling.

Wouldn’t mind doing a audi turbo lump must admit

So what’s running in your car pal !!

It’s the 2ltr tfsi from the S3. It looks like it had a problem with the map at some point and melted a piston which prompted a full wtcc spec rebuild from loba’s parts bin. Supposedly running 420hp and 450lb/ft at 1.7bar currently but I have yet to get it on the dyno

I think a remap and cooling upgrade is a good way to go though without spending too much cash!

Yer think that’s the route im going to go to be fair.

Iv just fitted the powerflex engine inserts, feels 10× better, the engine hardly moves now which used to anoy me !! Also changed gear oil for mt90 redline, all feels amazing but the only down side is its very very slightly crunching on down and up shift to 5th :frowning: need to do some research on this as it’s pissing me off

That’ll be the synchros, common fault and a weakness when you up the power :frowning:

I’m standard 220 bud ?

Someone may correct me as Im not best placed from experience but the box just isn’t the greatest full stop.

Stupid question as ive not done mine yet but is it possible you have over filled the gearbox oil?

The only reason I ask is we did the ramshackle rally in august and topped our gearbox up in calais. 5 miles down the road we were crunching gears and having to double clutch to get gears.

Cracked the drain for a second and it ran sweet for 2000miles without a hiccup.

Funny as was thinking maybe iv not got enough in it, as I topped up with the back end on ramps not level ??. I’m going to jack up level in the week and see if it needs topping up

I’m thinking the problems oil related if it was fine beforehand and now not. Mind you I’m no mechanic.

Hopefully someone will come along with more oily hands than me and point you in the right direction.

Thanks Keiran, I see what ya saying, im hoping there’s not quite enough in there due to the refill angle, it was bloody stupid of me not to level it in the first place haha !! Text book.

I hope so. Have to let us know what you find. Amazing how quick the undertrays / diffusers come off when you’ve had them off a few times

Well iv topped it up it was defo low but still crunching :frowning: waaaa waaa

Been for a long drive today guys and once it got nice and hot it wasn’t crunching from 4th to 5th but still from 6th to 5th, if I was to tweek the cables how do I go about this ? Anyone know a good starting point

Anyone ?? :frowning:
