I have the elise shop ones sat on the shelf. They are supposed to vibrate less so I went for those as I did not want Steph to suddenly start wanting to borrow my car.
I’ll let you know how they go.

Lotus sport ones are a bigger job to fit as you need a press to remove the old bushes which was a pig of a job. Powerflex just push into the voids on the existing bush.
I doubt there’s much difference in performance, looks like all the feedback is good for either type. The lotus ones actually come in a powerflex bag.
Guys,
I need a bit of advise please. I spoke to Essex Autosport who advised me that there are three different types of engine mount upgrades:
1.) Purple Lotus Motorsport mounts - These are very hard and cause a lot of vibration
2.) Yellow Powerflex mounts - These REPLACE the current mounts and cause less vibration than the Lotus items. I believe Steve (Blacktoy) on here had these fitted.
3.) Yellow Powerflex inserts - These are INSERTS that plug into the existing mounts. These are softer than the full replacement inserts.
Out of the above, which are the best to fit?
Many thanks!
Most people I can think of including me are running the yellow inserts which are plenty stiff enough, and cheapest to fit and buy.
Win Win Win
I would even go as far as to say I Wouldn’t want it any stiffer in a road car, I know a few people fitted the sector 111 kit and found the vibration unbearable
As I replied to Chris just now, inserts weren’t an option for me as my original mounts had basically had it. Symptoms of this were rattles over slight bumps and the occasional clatter on hard acceleration.
With the new engine mounts the car feels brand new, no rattles or squeaks but with a slight vibration at Idle. Handling is totally transformed and the car feels less on edge at the limit.
Inserts if your original mounts are still serviceable, they are the best from a price and performance perspective.
I’ve been told that the Powerflex replacements are a bugger to get hold of now due to supply problems so it’s inserts or the full Lotus Motorsport jobbies.
I think I’ll go for the Motorsport ones if I’m honest…
You could also go with Innovative Engine Mounts : Innovative Mounts - Motor Mounts, Traction Bars, Linkages, & More
I had the red 60A in my Elise and was very pleased.
The Lotus motorsport full bushes that I bought from CN’s were actually the powerflex purple bushes, I’m pretty sure they are one and the same, just packaged for Lotus. About 200 I think.
We have the powerflex engine mount insert in stock http://www.seriouslylotus.com/index.php/engine-and-gearbox/toyota-drivetrain/bush.html
Thanks SeriouslyLotus but I was after the full replacement parts rather than the inserts.
Car is now booked in to have the full purple mounts fitted next month when it goes in for it’s service. I’ll let you know what it’s like
Seriouslylotus I’ll have a set of the powerflex inserts if some one can give me a clue re fitting
I’m no longer going for the purple mounts and will be installing yellow ones instead. Purple I’m told are just too hard?
I had the yellow Powerflex ones fitted a few months ago , I thought I was going to at least take the front one back off again because of the vibration through the car , I then changed my de-cat back to the sport cat that’s on the 6x18 box and big manifold and it’s much better for some reason .
Go for it … not too difficult ,prob take you 2 hours or so ,undertray off, support engine/ box with jack …14 mm socket and ring spanner for the brackets…19 mm for the mount bolts . Only tricky bit is front bracket access . I used a small 2 inch extension …
thanks jfk
bit stupid really, had the car up in the air a few days ago to replace brake pads, clean the discs up and re paint diffuser.
up we go again.
my wife thinks I’m mad but then who is she to talk…she keeps horses
Well I finally had the mounts fitted and wow! Didn’t think they’d make a huge difference but my god, the car corners so much more positively and flat, especially through mid to fast corners!
Obviously I’ve only tried it on the road so far and will need to get it on track, but I’m deeply impressed with how much more solid it feels.
Throttle response feels no sharper and nor do my gear changes but then my throttle and gears were always spot on from day one.
All in all I’m very pleased! Now it’s the Forge Intercooler next
Yes they are bloody good.
My gear changes have improved no end, now got a nice precise clickety clack mechanical shift quality instead of the porridge before.
Have you had the shear panel fitted too?
Yep sheer panel is on so the car does feel quite stiff, but it’s spot on!
My gear change was always very clicky so perhaps I was just lucky to have a good box from new. I guess that’s why I didn’t notice much difference in the gear change.
Turning into corners though feels quite different. The best way to describe it is that it feels as if the car is no longer leaning. Not that it really leant before but it feels as if the car is not pitching anymore. The tyres also feel as if they are doing less work as well. It feels like the chassis is taking the load of the corning force rather than rolling through the tyres
Great mod for the price!
