Ultimate track day gear !

OK, so it might be hot and sunny, but the last time I was at a track day (mutter mumble, stupid Turbo Technics , mutter mumber) it was a F-f-f-freezing F-f-february.The latest edition of Lotus Life has a really neato set of clothes for 340R drivers. You can buy a heated jacket which plugs into the cigarette lighter (250)But even neater, is the modular design which enables you to plug in over-trousers (120) gloves (55) and socks (yes SOCKS !!) (50)Well, I thought they were cool (hot) anyway. They’ve also got a natty tacho upgrade containing an LCD display showing 0-60 acceleration time, 1/4 mile acceleration timer, Lap Timer. It comes with an track-side timing beacon and lots of other goodies. While I know that timed laps aren’t allowed at Track Days, and I’d never advocate breaking the rules, I can’t imagine this thing being detectable. Usual Price 767, Special Price 595Come on Tony, get your credit card out ! [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]

Where does the Tacho upgrade go. Is it bolt on or replacement to the original? Wil if fit and be calibrated for the Exige?? Hows the car coming??

It’s a replacement tacho. Here’s the reply from Lotus regarding fitment (given that it’s a 340R item)"Not easily as it replaces the seperate Tacho used on the 340R. It may be possible to run it in parallel to the existing Tacho, but this seems a little overcomplicated and hardly fits in with the minimalist approach we all hold so dear… Cheers, Nick"As for my car… you know how to upset a guy, don’t you sniff [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/frown.gif[/image] (should be 2-3 weeks now)[This message has been edited by Admin5 (edited 28 June 2001).]

Apparently the 340R even has a special power outlet in the bulkhead that comes live at 2,000 RPM to power the clothes! As for the credit card, my flexible friend is a little brittle at the moment! 2 sockets actually - to keep the passenger warm too.

What can I say? [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]
