As I have no plans to take my S1 on track for more than a brisk romp I decided to get a new set of v105 tyres. Lotus fit them on the Elise as standard so they should be ok. My local tyre shop says the rears are MO or Mercedes Original and will be unsafe on any other make, they don’t want to fit them. I think they are talking rubbish, Mercedes just like them, they are not custom. Yokohama only make two options for the rear, MO (Mercedes) or XL. Fronts are easy. Anyone fitted the MOs?

make sure they are w rated not the cheaper v rated ones
Good question, rears are W fronts are V (Blackcircles site). Not matched.
According to Yokohama, the “MO” marking is simply there as the tyres were jointly-developed by the two companies (Yokohama and Daimler):

Don’t forget Yokohama have a history of this, as some A048’s were sidewall-marked “LTS” as Lotus specific.
I agree and that’s just what I thought, but they refused to order and fit them. I have to take my son’s car there tomorrow so I’ll have a word.
