have just tried to order a set of rears for my car from localish lotus dealer. they are on back order… hopefully they’ll be here for your service on the 12th of july… but i’m almost down to the marker… sorry, they are out of stock.
how can lotus think it is acceptible business pracrtice to sew up a market then fail to meet the demand?
am so pissed off about it - and thought of my car either sitting on my drive for a couple of weeks awaiting parts, that i’m thinking of changing all four for something in the free market.
no track plans, less wear (would be a bonus) better in the wet (i live up north) anyone ideas for replacements?
yeah pesky. spoke to plans they have them in stock and will mail order them to me - just waiting for them to ring back. but as i sit here and fume i feel like changing to something i can please myself with…
what options are available if you dont want to fit the Yoko A048’s ?
Just how many miles are you getting off a set to want to change to a cheaper alternative?
Personally, I can’t see the sense in what you want to do…they are the best all round performance tyre for a really good performance car.
Need to remember a large part of the Exiges performance is down to the 48s It you are worried about tyre wear buy a 111R Seriously, Lotus spent a lot of time getting the right tyre compound etc. Considering the relatively low running costs and how much they add I think a set of rears every 3-4k is worth it

is this the case even if you dont want to do track days ?
(and before someone says get a 111R if you dont want to do track days - i perfer the look of the Exige )
If you still enjoy ‘spirited’ driving on the road you will appreciate the difference between 48s and standard tyres. But if the car is just for commuting etc just get a set of standard tyres.
You really should try it on track you might like it
got a pair delivered from plans - great service. i was more upset about them being unavailable from the dealers after us being stitched up with regards to only being able to get the tyres from the dealers themselves… very poor imho.
Have 048’s on the car & haven’t tried anything else but can’t imagine anything is better & the car has only been on track once (I think with Jamie giving advice from passenger seat at Knockhill), anyway on the road dry or wet the 048’s have the grip and the feel you can tell exactly what the car is doing and when it’s on the edge. I do a lot of “spirited driving” and these tyres are the dog’s, got them to last for 7000 miles on average which is no shame to them, infact the fronts still have 4mm @ 14K, about time u liberated those moths in the wallet, it’s a proper sports car for crying out loud & what’s 100 quid versus 34K if u stuff into a field U can get the 048’s from bookatrack etc no problem, remember ENGINNERS designed & built the car it’s not their fault that the dealers haven’t read the script
I’m going to have to disagree with a few opinions on here, for your use I’d say more standard road tyres are more suitable. Why not try the Yoko AD07 from the 111R?
It’s do as I say, not as I do though.
2nd set of fronts and 4th set of rears, 11K miles…

Do they fit Exige rims and do you introduce S2 Elise understeer by fitting them?
Just finished talking to tirerack here in the colonies. There are no A048s (LTS) to be had unless you can supply a VIN for an Elise/Exige!!! They have them “quarantined” somewhere in Alabama. maybe they have just realised that they don’t last 50,000 miles
