Need to get a new set of tyres for the S1. The past three sets have been R888s which are no longer available (got a few feels out) which I have found pretty good.
What do you reckon the the replacements from Toyo R888Rs?
Any other favourites?
Cheers
Mark
I run the R888R on the Clio, an excellent tyre and a good replacement for the R888

Got 888R’s on my S1 Mark. (have slightly different tread pattern to the old 888’s on the Elise)
ZZR’s all day long Mark. Don’t get me wrong I’ve bought countless R888s but I’m totally convinced with the ZZR having used them on the Caterham for the last year.
Recent convert to ZZRs. Reckon they are the best I have ever used .
Hmmmm - will have a look at the ZZRs as well as the 888Rs.
Thanx
Mark
The R888s seem to be still available on renn-reifen.de :

A set would be 680€ inc VAT plus shipping. They state that they will ship within the EU.
Mark, i believe that some of the LoT sprinting guys are using R888R’s due to the classification change on the ZZR’s.
R888R’s are said to warm up quickly, but also go off quite quickly. Perfect for sprinting, maybe not so much for track days.
Most people over here are on Kumho V70a, claiming they’re up to a second a lap quicker on 1:10 lap than ZZR. Haven’t tried them myself though.
Have seen the ZZRs don’t comply with current legislation now & are being replaced with the ZZS - looking to find a set of them!!!

ZZRs lasted me maybe 7 trackdays vs 888s lasting 4, I can’t discern a difference in grip so ZZRs do it for me.
Avon supply direct if you want the new ZZSs
