Tyres and Grip

Had first track day at weekend at Elvington [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image] - found it very difficult to come to terms with how much grip 39’s and Exige generate. Elvington seems 2 b a tyre destroyer - 48’s on Elise (driver was really making it happen tho [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]) were totally destroyed… - is this level of tyre wear typical on trackdays?? Can’t wait for the next trackday tho’ - what a hoot this car is [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]

SimonAirfield tyre wear - one of the reasons I don’t do Elvington. However, main reason is that I personally find airfields boring compared to circuits like Oulton, Donington, Cadwell & Croft. Others prefer airfields - "you pays your money etc"I suggest that you try a circuit trackday asap [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]

RobCheers for the advice - was going to do Cadwell on 5th but scenery is…well… a bit too adjacent until I get to know car a little better - intend goin’ to watch the experts pedal their Exiges round tho’- reckon Donington goin’ to be next trackday. Elvington is a particular tyre killer, with the long sweeping corner at the far end of the circuit having part tarmac, part concrete patches.Bentwaters (RIP) wasn’t as hard on tyres. As Pesky says, the proper circuits will be kinder on your tyres.
