TYRE WEAR (EXIGE S2) ?

Just wondering on the run up to ordering an S2 Exige, whether anyone has any sort of horror stories on the tyre wear on the standard Yokos.

Do they last?

How many miles are you getting out of them on road and track? How much for a replacement set?

Cheers
Dave.

Well to give you a comparison, my S1 Exige had three sets of (rear) A039’s and averaged less than 5000 miles. Current tyres are closer to 10,000 miles. Since you are based in Jersey you should get at least 20,000 miles from A039’s

Ken, A048’s are the standard fitment on the S2. I would guess at 10-12k front, 6-7k rear, depending obviously on your driving style.

Yes, I think that looks about right, I’ve done 2,500 miles including one bedford autodrome day and think I will be lucky to get any more than that kind of mileage out of the rears.

I’ve done around 5k with 2 track days and have about 2mm left on the rears.

Someone else I know with an S2 Exige has 6.5k and complete slicks on the back - says it corners like a demon !

In the dry! Demons will be involved in another fashion in the wet!

Oh!! Thats wear rate sounds expensive.

Yearly mileage is pretty low, but I reckon I should save for a new set after each Nurburgring trip!

I reckon each corner must cost at least 130-150 to replace ?

Also, in heavy rain, how do they cope ?

I find if its damp or wet they are actually better than I would have expected, but if its wet enough for standing water theyre lethal aquaplane city!

my A048’s are about 2000 miles, 3 or 4 trackdays and a couple of road trips old… I have recently driven in some gawdawful weather thru some ponds that I thought i was going to hit a tugboat in but the tyres were rock solid… totally amazed with them i have been…

How much tread you got left Rox? I found mine became a lot less impressive/predictable in the wet at about 2mm.
