can you fit a 205/45/16 on the front of my old girl…
looking at getting another set of tyres and if i couldnt get the 195/50/16, wondered if i would be safe with the above on the fronts…
many thanks…

It’s been done for general road or winter tyres but not sure for r888’s or a048’s
I’d also consider wider rears to match otherwise you may upset the front to rear grip balance
thanks chris.
on experience would you recommend 888’s for most of the year…excluding snow and ice obviously…
im looking at a general everyday tyre and a bit more if that makes sense and seem to have narrowed it down to the r1r/ad08/888
but keep changing the more homework i do…
This is where the ‘how many sets of wheels is too much’ thread my be useful.
I have 048’s on one set and R1R’s on the other.
The front R1Rs are not available in standard size so are 205/45/16. They don’t rub so long as your ride height is not too low
ha ha, looks like i could do with a set for all the seasons…
661, with your r1r’s, are they the standard 225/45/17 on the back. and are they a decent tyre???
right off to read the how many sets thread…
225/45/17, yes.
I must say as soon as the temps drop and if there’s any reasonable amount of water on the road I completely lose my bottle on o48’s.
R!R’s seem very assured. I beleive the compound is meant to be close to 888’s but obviously in blocks, so they do work on the track in all but warm days (get too hot)
I can’t recall what I was comparing them to when I chose, I think it was Advans 008’s.
Anyhow , got them from Dave at seriouslylargediscountforforummates
[quote=scatty]thanks chris.

Toyo ONLY recommend the 888 as a summer tyre , and because of the nature of the tread patten they don’t cope well with ‘standing’ water, which I suppose is why they recommend summer use
i think i may risk the r1r…
just wasnt keen on 205/45/16 on the front…we will prob get some nice weather and il thinks its california and get some 888’s…
looks like a 2nd set of wheels is the way forward…
thanks folks…
Would defo get two sets if I used my car everyday, Nuff said. Post up a wanted ad in the parts for sale section…
I used A048’s my first winter when the Exige was my only car, would I do it again? God no it was quite scary at times!
R1R’s are great in the wet. I had 205 on front and 235 on rear i think.
