Would be interested to know what the R1Rs are like, now they are finally available
Expensive, but I’d fit A039 … as they work in well in all conditions …
What about Toyo R1R’s?
Only problem is that they don’t come in the correct front wheel size of 195/50R16. Has anyone fitted the 205/45R16?
Nope, had them on mine for about 6 weeks.

What size are you running?
205/45R16 fronts and 225/45R17 or 235/45R17 rears?
Tbh I’m not keen on deviating from the OEM sizes but it doesn’t look like there is much choice other than fitting 48 again.
Toyo 888 =
I’m just sticking with 048s on mine when done, I do so few miles that the wear doesn’t bother me really. Most of my wear comes on track, which any tyre would suffer just as badly if not worse.
I am however upgrading my father’s S1 Elise to Bridgestone Potenza RE11s. Similar market to the R1R (halfway house road/track tyre) but by all accounts a better tyre all round. Been running a set on my GTi6 for about 3 months now and they’re even better than '48s on the road as you can actually get some heat in them enough to get them sticky. Not quite as good on track and do overheat a little sooner than '48s, but far FAR better than any semi-sensible road tyre I’ve ever driven. Will be staying on the pug for sure

205 fronts and 225 rears, wouldn’t go 235 rears.
205 fronts give a slightly lower front ride height (5mm) than the 195/50 fronts.
Overall they seem okay but havn’t tried them on track yet.
Hi guys - for info I just bought another 4 R888 rears I like them that much. (well actually I bought all they had for a cracking price - they cant get any more stock etc…).
They’re GG’s which I think are med - hard compound (treadwear 100).
