I am trying to cut down the amount of noise as the trackday police are getting forever harder to beat
So I have a cunning plan and as EA have tried lots of air boxes/filter on the S and only found the TRD and Apollo to be any good, so has anyone had both? Is the Apollo louder or quieter?
I plan on running the intake tube off the roof scoop, I’m not sure if it will help for drive by noise or not but it has to be worth a try.
Apollo will be louder mate, I had one on my old 111s and they are much louder than a standard type airbox.
The oem airbox has a snorkle to kill off sound, is it possible to retrofit one to the TRD? or would that just restrict airflow and make the TRD pointless?
Just replacing my Apollo with a TRD this week.
Can post up the diffrence at the weekend.
As I understand it the Apollo is slightly better than the TRD but the TRD has a better MAF sensor possition and allows you to retain more of the learning parts of the ECU when you remap.
Will report back soon.

I have also heard of a snorkel for the TRD but it was on Seloc so you can never be too sure, anyone else?
Might be interested in your Apollo though
whats the verdict then Apollo or TRD ? who is the loudest
Noticed these apollos on ebay 130 posted !
Having had the TRD for a week it is deffo quieter than the Apollo. Not a huge amount but there is a difference.
Makes my Exhaust sound better !!

Has anyone ran the TRD box with the K&N panel filter ( part number 1997-2003 LEXUS K&N AIR FILTER #33-2145-1) or the Blitz panel filter (part number 59504)? . Both these can be obtained cheaper than the Lotus sport paper filter for the TRD from the lotus dealer
that’s my setting, K&N with TRD
Is it quieter or louder than the paper trd panel filter ?
no idea, as i went directly with the K&N airfilter when i installed the TRD airbox
I have a 2nd hand appolo coming, then I will be doing a bit of fabrication work to get it to use the air from the roof scoop, I am hoping this will help with drive by noise readings, I’ll let you know
Just fitted mine today and went straight for the K and N element
what a nightmare job ! ended up redrilling the two mounts (bit of guess work) holes nearest the wheel arch to get it to fit, by know means a straight replacement for the standard box
Sounds great ! fair bit louder than the stock airbox and I cant help thinking it picks up better at low revs , prob just my imagination !however the car sounds right now as opposed to a 1.0 litre hatch back
Not a bad mod for 62 including the K and N of ebay which was cheaper than the lotus sport paper element.
De-cat next hmmm …?
