New knock developed during snetterton track day.
If I accelerate and back off in any gear there is a metallic “Clonk” just like a loose object knocking against a metal surface. ( there isn’t)
An undertray off , thorough check of engine mounts and toe links does not reveal anything…so??? any Ideas.
Clive
Get someone (not Trish!),to sit in car, engage first gear, slowly release clutch with foot on brake. If engine rocks,it will be an engine mount.
Bonne chance!
My pal with the red S1 at Cadwell when you were there had that problem-I’ll try and find out what it was.
Reading SELOC it seems it could be Engine mounts but from a general visual inspection they look very OK.
Drive shaft? Transmission?
Going to Sinclairs for a closer inspection .
Hope its nothing serious.
i used to have the same noise on my 111S it was the worn gearbox mount
Clive… with my engine out of the car at the moment I can see that my gearbox mount is completely cream-crackered after 20,000 miles… seems they take a bit of a beating when driven hard… reasonably cheap thing to replace
After some in depth inspection problem traced to knackered driveshaft U/J should have suspected something like this as problem was more pronounced whilst turning .
Thanks to Sinclairs for preservering with the problem.
Can now book some more track days …hooray
