Trailer

Anyone got any experience with getting an S1 exige on/off a Brian James Clubman Tilt bed trailer.
Notice they do a version with extra pull out loading ramps for extra low cars, but was wondering if the normal tilt bed would the job as its a bit cheaper.

If anyones got one it may save me a trip to Daventry to try one out.

thanks in advance.

i had the standard one with no problem just make sure you dont tilt it right up leave at least 2 inchs from ground ar rear this keep the angle lower and stops front spoiler touching

Thanks Mike,
Suspected that would be the case.
Used to have a Brian James minno which I’ve now sold 'cos the exige is too wide. Found it very stable at speed etc but the loading ramps were a pain so keen on a tilt bed this time

I have the clubman tiltbed and frankly I wouldn’t bother - go for a standard trailer and ramps.

You’re right, with a low ride height and splitter you cannot get away without scraping the splitter. Last year I hauled around a set of ally ramps (the kind you use to get onto corner weight scales) and put these underneath. Worked ok. Now I have bought a set of ramps from BJ and this gives a better angle, but they are so long that you cannot load without the trailer being hitched on as the trailer lifts at the front. So you need to have jacks under the back of the trailer as well.

You’re better off I think with a flat bed, plus that leaves room at the front for a decent winch and for a jerry can holder (this won’t fit on the tiltbed). Also if you go for a tyre rack, they now do a low profile rack which reduces air drag.

Thanks Stephen - good advice. and cheaper (spot the scotsman brought up in Yorkshire )

I have a Brian James clubman super low lift. I think it was a new model they bought out this year. It had a hydraulic tilt bed and ramps incorporated into the end, that slide out. I can get my car on it with the motorsport front splitter (which is only 40mm off the floor). Tows great, all good.
