It seems like nearly everyone on here enjoys a good trackday, so I hope you may be able to answer some of my basic questions.
I’m strongly considering doing the LOT Bedford Novice Evening on the 20th Aug.
The main thing I’m really concerned about is the noise tests.
My car is a standard Exige S 220 with TRD Airbox and Larini Sport exhaust (still has cat fitted). I’ve no idea what db my car produces and am frightened that if I book the session and get there, fail the noise test then it’s a waste of 100.
Do any of you noise test your cars somehow before going?
I think the limits are 98db driveby for the session I’m looking at. Is that high / low ?
Anything above standard at Bedford will cause you problems, if your local you can arrange to go down there and have a noise test, but a larini and TRD your probably to loud
My friend in a Caterham R500 failed the static at 102 (better than his GT3 RS at 112!) so the instructor took it for a hot lap and it registered 88 - so no playing for him
Mine has the tubular 8x22 and the TRD.
I passed the static no probs (at 5.5k and not 6k revs!) so I went very gently passed the 4 monitors in the morning and then in the afternoon when I was less bothered if I got chucked off I went flat out everywhere and I got 3 warnings.
I’m wondering if I should just put the standard exhaust on for the day - boring, yes, but at least it would not give me worries about noise - would it?
I have a SC Honda and I can get by there if you short shift by the meters. As you get to the end of the day just start buliding up the revs. They are pretty good about showing you the ‘noise’ board if you’re getting close. If its your first t’day, you’re probably not gonna be on maximum attack to start with anyways.
STD car is fine
There are 4
After first hangar hairpin
Back straight
There is a tight 180 towards the end and there is one leading up to that.
Finally the longish straight that runs down the middle before the two rights towards pits
