Track days..baffled sump essential and what else?

Must be a white racesuit !!!

Also Sincs were advising me to get their own design baffled sump as it doesnt leak oil like the Morosso. The missus will be miffed if I start leaking fully synth over the drive!

I had a nightmare with the Moroso leaking … took it back and refitted a standard sump …
Just been reading up on Exige engine failures due to track driving and it appears that as well as oil starvation issues several failures have been attributed to fuel starvation.

Does anyone make a fuel swirl tank? and if so anyone fitted one??
I found fuel starvation to be a good cost saver on the last Oulton track day. Had it not coughed and spluttered around the Hairpin then I would have been parked next to Chris and paying a 50 muppet fine for running out of Juice. Luckily i had enough to get back to the pits. Less than 90 miles on a tank :frowning:

By the way I’m not implying Chris incurred a muppet fine, he racked up a CN ‘how much is a new tyre!’ fine.

That’s the only time I’ve noticed any fuel starvation in the S2. If I keep it above two bars I’ve not noticed any problem. Or is the issue that it runs lean without noticing it?

Have you forgotten about the priest on Hanger Straight at the British GP, a few years ago?

As for running out of fuel on trackdays, I heard some muppet has managed it twice

Bargain it was too - 230 !!! No fine from the circuit though

The proalloy fuel tank does work and also increases the amount of miles you can do on track as well which is a bonus

And you forgot - add’s weight (only if you fill it up).
Anyone know the weight saving of the Pro Alloy V standard tank ???

Well Forge is 5kg…not sure about Pro Alloy, make the call?

Standard 38ltr 10.8kg
Proalloy 48ltr 6.65kg
Proalloy 54ltr. 6.65kg

What he said ^^^^^ plus do a search for my threads I did one on my replacement

The extra capacity is worthwhile on a modified (thirsty) car and the anti-surge thing is very worthwhile especially at places like Spa with sustained high G left hand corners.

We tried baffle foam at first on our Elise R and Exige S but in the end just put a bag tank in. We’ve put a fair few Proalloy ones into S1 and S2 cars though, they are very well finished and work really well for the money. I think it’s the proalloy one that Eliseparts sell.
