Here you go >rear towing eyes<

I put two red ones on just recently. Couldn’t be easier just unscrew the existing bolts and screw on the towing eyes using the accompanying slightly longer bolts provided. I put a drop of “Nutlock” on the thread just to be sure.

I’ve left my hlins at the “compromise” setting the dealer had them at felt pretty good on my first track outing.

Tyre pressures? I’m open to recommendations too. Always has to be specified WHEN you measure them before starting or when they’re up to temperature after a few laps.

Only important thing is to get the tyre pressures down to about 22 cold front and rear (if you don’t you’ll eat the rears in scarey time as the overheat!).

As for handling, run the factory settings to get used to the car but to kill the understeer a bit move put the front ARB in position 2 (one harder) and add a click of rebound damping to get rid of the slight bobbing the standard setup has.

Once you are used to it… play a bit more, but first day those small changes will make a massive difference for such small changes.

You have to watch these, check they’re tight regularly.

On Thursday the nut of one came loose, allowing it to touch the ground, bending it and spinning it around rather rapidly! Result = lots of sparks, and a vain knocked off my defuser. I’d suggest a touch of Permabond on the nut’s thread.

Also, and they’ve only been on the car for a few weeks, all the paint has flacked off, rather disappointing.

The thing I can’t get over is the idea that when you’re in the kitty litter that type of towing eye is buried deep in the gravel so useless!

Have seeon some of the racecars, they have a big loop through the back of the car.
That’s the system I’d be looking into.

South’…that is absolutely spot on…exactly the traits I want out. low speed wash/understeer and bobbing…many thanks.

I’ll bear it in mind on the towing eyes guys…and likewise I’m likin those big hoops alot.

I’m booked in to plans in a couple of weeks to do the front disks dependant on how Saturday goes. Thought I’d try it as is before deciding finally…then go through the list of other goodie u/g’s with Graham (and the bank manager)

Anyone got any days booked coming up?

This is probably the one you mean bit pricier than the eyes though.

I wonder myself about access to the eyes but better than nothing and the car is so light that it tends to stay on top of the gravel. I’ve only been in the gravel once at the Sachs Curve, Hockenheim (in my Opel Speedster (VX 220) @ 870kg) I was still a foolish novice and the Ferrari in front of me caught me by surpise. I was able to scoot across the top of it and rejoin the track. A mate in a 911 well and truly buried his at the same corner collected tons of the stuff!

>testing the gravel trap!<

remarkably cool response Speedy…I was expecting far more expletives than that…and I can vouch for the difficulty of extracting 911’s from the gravel…tow hooks or not…like a broken window…the gravel is with you for LIFE!

how tricky is the ARB change…is it sprung?..as you guys will now probably appreciate I’m from the “oddball” school of motoring…

clint…“hey oddball what are YOU doing?”
donald…“well the tanks broken and their trying to fix it!”
clint…“well why aren’t you up there helpin’ 'em?”
donald…“hey man…I only drive in it…i dont know what makes it go!”

hats off to sean! what a great piece of work and commentary

I think Uldis might have meant the ones that stick out of the space by the fog or reversing lights (at least on S1s).

Exactly, that one linked is still going to be buried deep into the gravel.

yes and it’ll foul me pipes me thinks…anyhow…at Bedford there is no gravel and everywhere else…I’m gonna buy one of thos little folding army shovels and mount it on the rear clamshell! with one of those big pointy motorsport arrows! USE THIS AND TOW HERE!

How about front towing eyes, is there one that wont bend?
