What a cracking day - thanks for allowing us to attend, 83man
A glorious dry track in the morning, then heavy rain hit us from lunchtime onwards, which continued until close of play. Less than 40 cars booked on, & I doubt that there were more than 15 cars out at any one time. Great standard of polite driving, & it was fab seeing so many race cars from the 1920s onwards giving it their all. Sharing our garage was a 2m 1935 Alfa Romeo - one of only 6 made, & the actual car which won the 1936 Donington Grand Prix, driven by Richard Seaman. We were also joined by a cracking little Lotus X1
Thanks to all those on here who supported the Friday track day. All seemed happy despite the appalling afternoon rain.
As an aside Barrie Williams, Willie green and several race drivers from the US and Australia who were taking part in out weekend race meeting were out and about in a couple of Vectra hire cars - very amusing! They were out and about in much more interesting stuff on Saturday and Sunday!
Yes, it was great, for one more time.
Many nice cars there, but I have just discovered my sister liked one particulat Exige so much, that she put it as wallpaper on her pc!
Check it yourselves:
What a top bloke that guy must be, tracking a 70 year old car, with what must be the best part of 350bhp, drum brakes, and tyres that would look more at home on my bike!
As wonderful as Peskys car looks in the rain (ie: awesome), I dont suppose anyone managed a snap of the Alfa ?
David
There are hundreds of photos HERE of all the cars at the race meeting coutesy of our track day ARDS instructor. They take a while to download, even with BB as there are so many. Enjoy
He’s Peter Greenfield, from New York. It was “looked after” by Enzo himself, whilst he was still running the Alfa race team, before setting up on his own. I asked Peter what other cars he had in his stable. Apparently he has a sister car of the Alfa in the pics (but not as original), an Alfa Monza, & oh, a “few Ferraris” In other words, he made Russ seem like a pauper
