I’ve done a search and there are loads of matches for TPS.
My question: should the TPS be spring loaded? From experience with TPS on other cars the throttle position potentiometer is spring loaded so there is some resistance.
Mine moves freely without any resistance. Is that right?
I can’t help thinking the Lotus guys could have put a MAF in there to help with getting the correct fuelling bang on all the time. So much is reliant on that little TPS to send the correct throttle position to the ECU.
The system is mechanical (ie. cable from pedal) and has a return spring so, I suspect, there is no need to separately load the TPS.
If is was fly-by-wire, so with a pedal position sensor, then the type of installation would possibly be different.
As tlracer said there is no need to load the TPS as this is done by the spring on the throttle bodies.
I used a sensor with the parts number SLD100080P on my Exige.
It depends on the ECU you are running of how the engine load is calculated.
If you run the original EFI ECU on your car the fuel calculation is mainly done on the base of the manifold pressure (MAP sensor). The TPS is only used to detect sudden throttle changes like accelaration. The Emerald relies indeed mainly on the TPS input although some MAP influence might be added.
Useful info chaps thank you
