Following the warranty issues last week , now Motor Codes (SMMT funded) is looking at the issues raised in connection with secret policy has breached rules on warranty etc , then it’ll be Office of Fair Trading…
Doh!! There’s going to be a lot of Toyota dealers in difficulties if this comes out. There’s normally a massive non disclosure clause in the franchise agreements.
Is this investigation really necessary? Bit of common sense says that yes it goes on, yes it can be resolved, yes every manufacturer does it, no safety issues were ignored, yes new car prices will probably rise to cover increased warranty claims, and lets not start on extended warranties!
Still seems very strange to me. I wonder if the journo involved has a Toyota, just out of warranty, with a big bill???

It started with a customer, then a technician employed by a dealer, and then the ST discovered an even bigger can of worms
Won’t end well.
For anyone, not just Toyota, their dealers or staff.
Wait til ST suddenly think if Toyota are doing this, who else is?? Everyone is, not just the car industry!! At least if you have a car messing around, there’s limitless options of where to take it. Ever got frustrated with Microsoft?? Fed up with banks, is there such a thing as a non franchised bank?? List is endless.
