Had my car parked at a GM test track in Germany a week back. Perfect blue skies and hot as hell… than within 5-10 min of time the sky turned black and started throwing water…no worries yet… it cleared up slightly and everybody went back to work… Than it really started raining like hell. Never seen such much water and was looking at the Exige from the office window. Then somebody pulled the handle over and a 2min hail storm started beating up my car Going out was lethal so the only thing I could do was looking at my poor car. Hail big as 10-20 mm in diameter pounded down and within 2 min the whole area was white.
Aftermath…a lot of test and privat cars had roofs and bonnets looking lie the surface of the moon. But not mine The body work doesn’t show anything. The radiator cover is perfectly intact and the only thing that got a beating was the air outlet in the engine cover. Slightly dent but thats easily fixed… I guess the insurance guy’s are happy with our hobbies
The day after I heard that only a couple of miles away the hail had reached 30-40mm in diameter and they went straight through car windows.
Some pictures here!
I drove through something like that with mine once (on near-bald 048s no less!)… hail wasn’t QUITE so bad but was convinced I’d just driven my way into a full body respray Stopped and had a look and the paint was like glass, no dents or chips Tough old birds they are
BTW, I could fix the air duct just with my thumb! Pressing with my thumb from the inside and feeling with my hand on the outside and everything was straight again after 30sec…

The job is, as they say, a [color:“orange”]carrot[/color]
There I told you it was a good car…when I owned it it hardly ever went out in the ~RAIN let alone Hail…
Keep having fun…
Hey MrBean, with times when oil prices and the environment are discussed daily I say, f*&k it, I’ll drive it everyday as long as it is possible. Its now done 4000+ miles since I’ll picked it up in April. Hasn’t missed a beat. Thanx, It is a great car and I’m arriving to work with a big smile every day… It will probably need a new set of tires by the end of the summer
