Is it me or was last nights TG actually quite good ?
No dicking around and lots of normal car related stuff.
Of late I’ve been favouring 5th Gear but last night started pulling me back to the TG boys

Plus a 1:16.2 lap on the manufacturer board to go second between a V8 atom and a Veyron… outstanding!!
Yeah it was a decent show again, much better than the last season, i think it helped this time having the mclaren and ferrari on, rr concept thing and the cheap car thing at the end, f1 guests are always much better too

I thought it was a good episode. Very desperately wanted a blast in one of those dune buggies! I’m vaguely confounded by the pace of the McLaren though as EVO mag found the 458 over a second quicker around Bedford. Different kind of circuit I presume.

One of those thing I suppose, but the McLaren just never looked fast and going through hammerhead it was off boost and just not accelerating, I thought it was going to be more like the 458 time so I was very surprised indeed…
I know McLaren did a huge amount of testing around Dunsfold so perhaps suspension and tyres were optimised on that kind of surface? Certainly a deeply impressive car. I ended up sharing the Millbrook banking with one of the prototypes and the noise and stability were awesome.
Top Gear Track owned by Mercedes which previously was shareholder of Mclaren.
They tested the SLR there in it’s day.
The test car a lot of the mags used had a hydralic problem which was later fixed and went theyw ent back to various tracks theyw ere faster than Fezza.

The Macca is all about going fast. It killed the competition by an astonishing margin. This is the entry level Macca. How fast will the “Fast one” be ?

Yeah, I cant get on with the back end of the Macca, and like others have said, i dont care if its faster than a 458, I would have the Fez every day of the week.
I suspect a car of the McLaren’s talents would be lost on me anyway. I’d take the 458, or even a 430 Scuderia in preference. For road use, the Exige is plenty fast enough anyway. I can’t imagine how I’d ever safely deploy 600bhp on a regular basis…
Almost nobody can, hence all the electronic gizmo’s needed to keep it on the road (or track). It’s a good example of the car world getting even crazier in pursuit of big BHP & bragging rights IMHO.

Not sure of the term bragging rights … I just admire the engineers for their pursuit of perfection … I really enjoyed watching the footage and can’t wait till my Lotto win to taste the fruits if their labour
Supercars are all about Bragging rights.
They are all ridiculous but we love them because of that (what ever flavour tickles your fancy)
