National award for Shelsley Walsh

The award from the Motor Sports Association, the sports governing body, was to honour the efforts made by the MAC over the past year to help promote club motor sport.
Allan Dean-Lewis, MSA Director of Training and Education said: "The competition was open to clubs from throughout the UK and the MAC clearly demonstrated their ability to promote the sport to existing enthusiasts and new people alike.
“Besides hosting successful events, they managed to get former F1 driver and current television commentator David Coulthard to visit Shelsley Walsh to film a feature programme and with other new thinking, secured a large slot on national TV through the renowned Countryfile programme.”
“This exposure has all helped to raise the profile of Shelsley Walsh, recognised as the oldest motor sport venue in the world, and our congratulations go to the club, officials, volunteers and members for their efforts.”
Mark Constanduros, MAC Commercial Manager, added: “We are extremely pleased to receive this accolade for what was a very busy year, the trophy will take pride of place in our new offices which are currently being developed as part on the on-going restoration of the courtyard, and the �500 prize money will be spent on signage and branding to assist competitors and spectators.”
