This is interesting stuff:
Time warp?
No , he had to serve 12 months notice, so only just taken the reins .He had worked for Lotus for 26 years, but couldn’t stand DB any longer, but while he was working his notice DB was sacked…such is the way of the world!!!
Lotus are now subbing all the technology development to Caterham Special Projects , which is based in a building near the Lotus factory, and have sacked all their in house engineers , who have new jobs with Caterham.
Lotus owe this technology group over 5M (overdue over 180 days )so Lotus are being watched very carefully credit wise by Caterham Special Projects
Interesting, indeed.
Tony Fernandes is on record as saying that he will not make promises, just announcements when he has something to announce. He also declared, in a private interview but also publicly stated, that he would like to produce small, light sports cars, hopefully involving hybrid technology.
While reading the TLF thread it was said that Lotus and Caterham are only likely to meet in a courtroom. I don’t believe that is true. Head of Lotus Motorsport, Claudio Berro, told me in a private interview that he could see the day when Lotus and Caterham would share dealerships, a la Ferrari/Maserati, in view of the close relationship between the two companies products (and engineers in now seems!). It might have been BS but I think he was sincere.
Time will tell…
I think the products from the two companies complement each other nicely.
