Anybody had problems with there starter motor sticking? Mine was playing up about a year ago but seemed to cure itself, untill to day:( And it decided that the best place to not start would be a busy pub car park haha great!

Just me then:)

ive had two toyota powered lotus without that issue. Always garaged though
Do i need to get a exige starter or can i get a toyota one? Or can it be fixed?
Rick
I bought an MR2 one off ebay recently for 45.
i would think a fix or refurb would be doable. i think its a toyota part?
And will the super charged one be same as n/a one jonny.

Anyone give me an idea were to find the starter? Got the under tray off but dont really no what am looking at:)
Rick
It will be bolted onto (and paralell with) the gearbox/bell housing, as its job is to turn the flywheel…
It should have a cable or two fixed to the opposite end to that bolting it onto the g’box. HTH.
Thanks Tim .And would i be able to get to it from top or bottom?
Rick
You will need access from both.
This sounds like it could be a pain in the arse for a man with little skill in the art of working on cars.
Rick
You’ll have all day Sunday to do it unless you planned something else!! Best of luck, though (Speaking as a mechanical no-hoper, myself)

if Frank say’s both, then both it is
I don’t know myself but starter motors are all pretty similar…
Good luck
Well i was hoping to watch the touring cars sunday, not so sure ill have time now. I have found it and it looks like a rite pig to get to. Oh well it will keep me busy.

The right wheel needs to come off with the liner and with extra long socket extensions you can access the starter bolts… It’s a pain in the butt and I think it’s worth the money to have someone else do the job.
Sometimes you have to tell yourself F this crap and just cough up the dough.
Can get to one of the bolts from under the flexible pipe/hoses in the engine bay and the other from underneath by the engine mount. Then it just about fits through the hole from memory. Taking the oil filter and one of the oil hoses off the sandwich plate helps a little, but covers you in oil!
Don’t forget to disconnect the battery first. Gets a little exciting if you don’t when you short the main battery cable to ground somewhere!!!
Sorted:) turns out the starter was loose so was not seated correct so every now and again would not start, quick nip up of the bolts and the job is a good one. So my day of touring cars is back on:)
