I have been doing quite a few track days lately and the whole rearclam has turned yellowish, also the diffuser below the 2bular GT3 exhaust has this tint now. I can’t get it off with soap and water. How do I remove it? Someone suggested with petrol ?
I believe it is the excess of oil that goes through the exhaust ??
Is this film dangerous and can it ignite itself if it gets a spark from somewhere?
I don’t have any Oil Catch Cans installed as I always thought that they were only essential on SCed cars.
Jonny, I also have removed all of the heatshield. Do you have the Oil Catch Cans?
Re monday, I will be there at 17:15, though probably doing a few laps on the North Loop rather than on the GP circuit.
but I might drop by to say hi

Just use any polish/cleaner… like Megures paint cleaner before polish… works very quickly and very well.
I have snapped a photo. You can clearly see the goldish tint on the righthand side.
If I installed Oil Catch Cans, will that solve the problem from reappearing? i will try to polish it out, thanks for the hint pete

Looking on the bright side, the 211 plinth looks great!
The exhaust sticks out about 2-3 cm.
The film comes off with meguiar’s wax polish but I’d rather find out what exactly is causing it? Someone on Seloc is saying that it’s normal with a decat…I dunno.
I had this on the back of My Exige… I reckon it is just the by products of the hot and running a bit rich exhaust sticking to the paint. NOTHING to worry about!
Dont forget there is a huge low pressure area behind the car so the gasses are really quite concentrated in this area.
Anyway, it looks cool as we can see which boys have been giving their cars the beans… or not!
Joel, I drove past your car parked up that evening twice, because of the track closure I couldn’t get any space to park myself, looked tho mate but you were nowhere to be seen
I have never had this problem tho until now and this was the only time I’d used Autoglym to polish it and when I got home there was the same orange tint. After washing, it turned to a fragmented tint. It rubbs off but takes some serious elbow grease to do so. I use a 3M surface cleaned to remove the rubber marks and this worked also for orange stain . Gone tho
Hey Jonny. It was a really busy day. In my very first lap I encountered 1 accident, in the second there were 2, then 3 and 4…before they closed the track. That’s when I saw you drive by me in the parking lot. I yelled at you, but you obviously didn’t hear me lol. Unfortunately you didn’t find a parking space.
Regarding the oily stuff on the rear of the car, I still have some of it on my clear bra (vinyl) and I don’t know what product removes it. I mustn’t use meguiar’s Wax cleaner as it’s too aggressive on vinyl.
