Tints

I notice Steve Green has tinted side-windows.Was that an option or a retro-fit purchase ?I imagine they look bloody cool !

dealer’s demo had very black tints on side windows and looked excellent. I got dealer to do mine as part of the deal…however, they bottled out on the same tint saying that is was the wrong side of legal and instead fitted the darest legal one possible. Its not as good as the demo but if i dont like it they will fit the darker one FOC…and at my risk if stopped!

Is it a film or spray or what ?Do you think most dealers will do it ?

its a film…and they get someone in to do it…Im sure most main dealer swill have contacts to get it done

Does really anyone drive his or her Exige with closed windows??? Who cares for the tint, if the windows are down [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]

well, well marcus…if you had air con you wouldn’t have to open the poxy windows but without it in summer, there is NO option of course… he-he… it’s naff anyway, to have the windows down.rarely did it with me elise and certainly NOT doing it with me exige. very bad for your cw-wert as well …if you know what I’m driving at… hast mi?? by the way, I’m from Ossingen which is near Andelfingen which is near Schaffhausen which is very close to the border with Germany.by the way, I absolutely HATE that poxy alcantara thingy… thank god that mine is black and NOT blue…mind you, I have air con… so, there you go… he-he…

I heard you haven’t laid hands on your Exige yet. Hmpf… then you probably cannot post a pic - for a brg-one still is missing, and I do like the colour very much… although we seem to disagree with the alcantara thingies [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]. WORST for your drag coefficient are, by the way, too large sunglasses [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/cool.gif[/image] Munich is about one and a half hours from Lindau, and Schaffhausen is not out of reach either… I guess, we well meet someday in summer. With one car or the other… Marcus

hmmm, yeah, the sunglasses problem is a tough one, isn’t it?? he-he…nice one, marcus… by the way, if you really don’t know what lotus is good at… erm. then you are at the wrong place here. then, you should search for a BMW,Merc or even worse… a porkster panel… he-he… you migth have noticed that I’m a sarci bugger…blaim the Brits!! been living too long on this island…

Talking 'bout aesthetics in your cockpit AND havin ordered aircon… hehehe. That’s like wearing an Audemars Piquet with a plastic wristband… [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image] What Lotus is good at? The HEAT, man, the heat! I love the smell of my melting pirellies on my Elise as much as the… erm… wet-t-shirt-contest with my female copilots…

Besides, should it get warm, opening the window half an inch (if driving) is enough to let fresh air in.As for Alcantara… I like the look of it as an interior material, but personally don’t think it suits the race-car look of the Exige. To me, an Exige is a single minded stripped down, race-prepped-style car, and Alcantara is just for looks (don’t get me started on AirCon again…)

ok folks, I give in…I confess that I wanted me Exige without aircon 'cause I thought exactly the same as most of you…he-he…the story about me BRG exige is like this. Went to a car show, wanted to order an exige without air con but the BRG had to be essential. he said if I want one without air con, I would have to compromise on the coulour. Then I said NO WAY and thought that was it. Then the dealer thought for a bit, turned round and said : OK, you can have mine which is BRG but with aircon. He had already ordered his personal one and it was on its way. So I did hesitate but in the end gave in 'cause I just couldn’t compromise on the coulour, could I ?? being an old fart BUT NO bloody faggot…!!! so, I have me BRG exige which was actually his… mind you, maybe he is a poof… only joking 'cause he is quite allright…I can always get rid of the air con, can I? If I get the 260 upgrade, have to deal without anyway…but then again, might be glad in summer 'cause it GETS REALLY HOT ON THE CONTINENT…come and visit our beautifulcountry !

[… erm… wet-t-shirt-contest with my female copilots… [/B][/QUOTE]hey marcus, if I had the choice, I would always go for the wet t-shirt contest…he-he…

Heat in the car… it seems to be overexaggerated in the press in my opinion too. At least my 60-min-full-power testdrive relieved my fears about that quite a bit. It was just… comfortable. Not worse than in a closed Elise. Or not MUCH worse. Exactly right for the occasional wet-t-shirt contest [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/grin.gif[/image]

I don’t know about Admin5 (Dave), but my biggest gripe about aircon is that the inside and dashpanel looks like a late 1980’s Vauxhall Nova!!!PS: Whose got the brand new Dark Blue Exige parked at Kings today with a tiny front reg plate 111 something or other???Looks good… Shame about the Aircon though. Also there was some guys there (New Ally… The best Colour) from Bedford… do they frequent this group?

Look it’s okay, you don’t have to prove anything, I believe you. [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]

no brendan, I know that I don’t have to proof anything…he-he… I mean, I was really laughing me head off when reading your comment… so funny… keep these kind of jokes coming, will ya???

Don’t you guys have V-cool installations there? the same stuff used by the stealth fighter F117 … : )

Dave, two things: Firstly, there’s an outfit that advertise in just about every car mag who specialise in tinting windows (the add shows a tinted Diablo); if you can’t find the add let me know and I’ll find their contact details for you. Secondly, IMHO Alcantara has one main advantage: it’s extremely grippy to sit on, and therefore stops you sliding around so much during hard cornering.Tim, the dark blue Exige belongs to Ric Kelly, and is there for the UCR gear set and short shift mechanism, and yes, it does look good. It’ll go damn good too soon!

I have got my windows tinted. Got the stuff from Halfords and did it myself. Not a bad job for my first attempt but it is incredibly fiddly. My advice would be to speak to SEXTONS as they have a mobile team and they will do it for you where ever you are. It does look very cool and keeps the cabin cool to.

I bought some tinting film from Halfords today. After struggling for a couple of hours, I lost my rag and gave it up as a bad job… When Keenan said fiddly, he wasn’t joking…Think I’ll be paying a professional to do it…
