My turn for a question to the fountain of all Exige knowledge.
Returning fron Lotus fest in hot conditions engine started to run @ 5000 rpm only able to slow it by selecting high gear and applying brakes.Turned off ignition and back on again but it was just the same.
Stopped and checked throttle linkage which seemed free (but it was hot in there )
Eventually it subsided for no apparent reason, however on idle it “hunts” fron 1000 to 2500 rpm without any interfearance from me.
will check the linkages and wheel sensor again but could this be an ECU isssue??
Thanks guys for your input.
Engine is DVA’d ,hot cams . Emerald no IACV.
Clive you have TB probs - its the crap Titan TB design that is the problem - bushes wear and allow butterflies to move to the right fouling the intake manifold - a friend modified mine - Mr Pearman step up to the ochee - and I have had no further issues.
Can’t believe at idle how much the engine revs at so little a TB opening
Clive.
I see no IACV and running an emerald, so it won’t be an IACV issue or the issue I had with my OEM ECU revving up when rolling (which was an odd one I never got tot he bottom of before I changed the ECU).
My money would be on a vacuum leak into the manifold. When the IACV was removed, I’m assuming the bypass line was blocked off somehow? If this is now leaking when hot, this will cause the idle to run away as air will be getting into the engine with the throttle shut.
That’d be my first port of call.
My Titan throttle butterfly spindle shifted to the left, causing them to jam open-WIDE OPEN- on a track day! I initially put it down to differing materials and their thermal expansion rates as evering was correctly torqued or loctited. No real solution yet as I’ve stripped, reassembled and had no issues since (touch wood). I’d be keen to have the contact details of Mr Pearman though please SimonE.
Cheers,
Kurt
More details of the mod would certainly be very welcome.
