I’m going to be doing this on my elise in the new year, so if anyone is in any doubt about this mod all will be revealed next year.
(VHPD engine going in my elise in Jan )

Didn’t mean to cause you any aggro by mentioning the SELOC thread - just wanted you to know what was being said. Never doubted it would be 100% in your car, cos you’re a star

No worries mate. I had never really been on SELOC before. Just had a quick look and noticed that my name had been mentioned on quite a few posts.
Obviously the Simon Erland post. lol.
Someone had even done a post about the work I am doing on my car at the moment. Most slagged me off, saying that I was stupid doing this to an Exige, blah blah blah. Bloody Hell, I hate that. I really do not like being slagged off by people that don’t even know me.
I’m glad we are all nice and friendly over here!!
I know because I have done it.
Just want to clarify, I do not mean this in the arrogant sense. I am just trying to say that because I have completed the job and seen it work, that I know that it does work.
Sean…
Some of the people on Seloc are from another planet I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it mate.
just to make things clearer also from my side…
I did some research about 8 months ago about the throttle linkage, tried different solutions (new bushes, inserting ferrules inside the bush, replacing the bush with a ball bearing, etc.). I also thought about using the 111R setup.
Ended up making a new lever with ball bearing pivot and offset spherical joint. It had the same operating geometry of the original, used the original plate and cable and worked great.
as a second step I made a similar lever, but with 3 positions giving a different pedal/cable ratio (3:1 2.3:1 and 1.8:1) and tested it again. Being very satisfied on the result (I’m using it since june) I passed the idea to Yvo (Elise-shop) who is finalizing the production of the said lever in these days…
Please note I have no economical return for this product, I gave the drawing just to spread the use of this mod who I think works great.
Here is a bad (phone) pic of the lever prototype…

I suppose buying the lever from Elise-Shop or Eliseparts is going to be way cheaper than self-making a copy, but if someone really wants to go this route, I will help no problem
Cheers
Carlo
Nice one, Carlo
Fair play Carlo, looks good!!!
Guys, Guys, Guys. Chill.
No excitement on my behalf Sean, I know who I trust.
Ian
Thanks Ian!!
If it’s Me that you trust. lol!!
another superb SeanB top-tip
Is it easy enough to feed the cable back from the pedal to the throttle bodies when your car is in one piece? Or does the fact you car is in bits help ?
I guess its a job that is the same wether you use new or old cable but just wondered… before i get in a fankle and wish i’d kept the old wiggly connection

Cheers mate
I can’t remember the last time my car had all of the proper interior centre trim, as I ditched the handbrake and everything to do with it yonks ago.
I would whip a seat out and start dismantling te centre stuff from there.
What TB’s do you have Rox? I don’t want someone doing this who has standard Exige TB’s without knowing that the pedal travel will be adequate. If you have Jenveys, all will be cool. I will have a look at the standard ones over the next day or so.

I have standard Titan TB’s, if there is a problem with throttle cable travel - i was thinking that i could still use the new cable but reinstal all the old wiggly wobbly bits back to standard at the pedal end ?
Doesn’t the ball on th eend of the new cable fit the old multiplier bar ?
Sean, what diameter is the radiator cooling fan… mine fecked… is it 11 inches?
Just noticed this throttle mod on a Motorsport Elise currently for sale on Pistonheads:

Hi Sean (everyone)
I’ve been kindly pointed over to this thread / board from NYLOC.org as I’ve been having problems with my throttle cable on my S1 elise and was looking for a better solution
I’ve ordered all the bits as you listed them (JCT said that the part No has only an A at the beginning BTW) and wondered if you have a better pic of the pedal box arrangement shown earlier ?
Oh and when you say it works on the original TBs is the cable used on the exige the same as the elise ? ie. will the travel between idle + full throttle be comparable ?
Cheers
Matt.
I tested to see if the TB end of the cable fitted into the standard Exige TB’s and it does. I didn’t do anything more than that with the standard TB’s.
I now have it working excellently with the Jenveys, and I have adjusted it so that I now actually have less pedal travel than with the original cable setup.
Glad to hear the setup is working great for you, hope I get it working to the same level The lads I know from NYLOC (RichE,SimonE etc) said this was a helpful place
I’ve not received the cable from JCT yet so I’ve not had a chance to play* yet to see what the travel is like on a 160 TB
