The 'Ring as it was when 83man was a lad
that series of corners is pretty much still the same now. Just about every time I have been through that part there has been at least a bike or two in the gravel. I dont know the name of the bend(s) but it is one of the slowest parts of the cicuit after a very quick section. Catches alot of people out…
Unbelievable - some great footage there.
The biker that went straight across the gravel was lucky. Not sure how two cars came around the 1st corner upside down!
Know that corner well, it caught me out on my 1st visit there in an Elise and I ended up facing backwards in the gravel trap on the right-hand side of the track.

Love the guy who “bailed out” of the Beetle .
Thanks Mr P, that was a good laugh for a silent movie.

absolute top quality, a tribute to 70’s car construction

Are there talking ones now?
Thankfully they have stopped the cars parking on the circuit (look at the shots where the car makes it and all the cars parked at the side of the track at the exit).
Adenauer Forst is where most people come a cropper, especially those who think they know what they are doing but in reality don’t!
This is probably the most interesting video of the N’ring I’ve found online, other than my own one of course.
It’s a big file so needs time to load properly but it’s the 1967 German GP. The bit in Peskys post is about 1m39sec in.
Cheers Mark - great stuff
The 'Ring as it was when 83man was a lad …
Even ignoring the fact that you are even older than me…?
I haven’t been to the ring since 1976, or was it 1977 , when I lived in Germany. Went to the GP in a VW camper (but was driving and, sometimes, rallying a Mk2 Mexico at the time). Marvellous carnival and the first time I’d seen empty beer bottles and glasses thrown and smashed on the tarmac (not the race track, but in Adenau) as a matter of routine when the thing was empty . This just goes to show how young and naive I was at the time.
Was that footage all from a single day? Remarkable
Would it be possible to have a section in the forum for non lotus stuff such as this, or is our focus solely on Exiges?

Wouldn’t want the site to go off on the tangents that some other sites do - I think Pesky’s post sits quite well within the general section here or it could have gone in the Meets and Events section if Pesky filmed it himself .
Every so often someone posts something that is not strictly Exige related but meets the criteria of being interesting enough to fit in on an Exige board. I couldn’t write down now what those criteria are, but rather I would know what they aren’t after seeing a post.
But then again, if they were all in another section, I would have to go in and look at them

I’ll be happy to “go with the flow” (ie what Mr Admin decides) on this one. If it means having a seperate section, or the “ban” on posting non Exige/Lotus stuff, then that’s fine by me
I’m all for it. But hey, it’s not my forum. Just a thought.
My opinion the issue with many forums is that they tend to be either overly controlling and try and kinda force things, or, just tend to wonder off into mindlessness.
The advantage with Exiges.com is that not only is it a happy place (most of the time ), but its also got its own focus and kind of a rhythm.
That said, Mr Admin has done a great job, and Im sure what ever he decides will work .
Anyways, thats just my 2p.
