They've killed Bridge!

I loved that bend! :frowning:

Is it still not connected and usable as a different circuit layout?

I Hated that bend! especially the wall

Only driven Silverstone once, but I’m with Ian on “Bridge” - great fun!

And look at all the new run off at Woodcote. :frowning:
Bridge was easy flat in the Exige, just had watch the exit and entry in to Priory. The wall on the right was waiting for you to make a mistake and bin it backwards.

I just hope all the circuit’s don’t start looking the same with there concrete walls, fencing and loss of individuality.

I’ve just had a good look at the new Arena circuit today during practice for the FIA GTs. It’s impressive, to be honest. Lots of changes going on at Silverstone. The right hander on to the new section is very fast and probably just as good as Bridge.

Reinstate 1973 Woodcote - Peterson drifting at 165mph - ahh those memories

I remember watching Villeneuve (jnr) hold a slight but perfect drift through Bridge lap after lap in a BAR during practice; magic!

In the Exige you could be as brave as you liked (whilst retaining respect for it), feel the downforce working (see it too as you hauled in R500s) and have the bail-out option of the grass if it all went wrong (not that I ever did).

Ah, sigh. I doubt they’ll now run it much in that config.

Ian

Simon, how right! Watching from the outside of Woodcote and seeing F1 cars disappearing up the start/finish straight I just couldn’t understand how the tyres stayed on the rims! Fantastic; real balls out stuff when a serious ‘off’ still meant serious injury at least.

Who knows, maybe we’ve met before exiges.com in 1973 at Woodcote… I think you must have been the big bloke who kept getting in my way!

The Lotus’s ran what they call the Bridge GP circuit the other week, so the corner is alive and well!!

Lol Mike could well have been, every time the 72 came round I got rather excited
