The things you find in the garden!!

Plant pots…I was havin a look at linking the air inlet to the left-side body vent. I was a little unsure of going the full hog (as Uldis has done and, may i say, made a mighty fine job of it) and connectin’ the vent entirely to the air filter intake - cause I was a little worried about removing general airflow from this vent to the engine bay. Then at Angelsey I noted that Steve&Martin had fitted a deflecter - although they (i think) had done it while their car was in bits and manufactured a nice aluminium thingy?Anyway… Plant pots… Yesterday I thought what could I use ?? [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/confused.gif[/image] - I hoked about in my howf [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/confused.gif[/image] and found a tall Plant pot with a 150mm ‘mouth’ [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/smile.gif[/image]. I cut the bottom off it (making it a tube - 2 tubes in the car now!!) and then slashed a section of it out and moulded the flexible narrow end of this round the air-vent, fixed it with tape to the vent… mmm thats quite good… [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/wink.gif[/image]This provides a deflector and allows water small stones etc to fall/run down onto the inner wing as they do anyway in un-tampered cars. I then took the rest of my Plant pot -still with the top circular collar intact, and sort of telescoped it onto the bit I’d fixed earlier with tape. [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/cool.gif[/image] I set a distance which allows it to offer weather protection to the map-sensors which are attached to the engine brace above the flexible air-intake hose at that side (I had to swivel these around a bit to get more clearance) - taped the two parts of plant pot together and popped the Air Intake hose into the collar. Pretty good methinks !! Does anyone understand any of this? Ahh well at least the azhelias will be good next year! [image]http://www.exiges.com/ubb/NonCGI/images/icons/rolleyes.gif[/image]
