this debate always baffles me tbh,
i ran an elise before my exige and loved the roof off motoring for the sounds, smells, heat, involvement with the open air it gave me. it amplified my driving pleasure and the car felt a part of its environment rather than been sealed from it by the roof, windows etc.
having read many times that exiges looked wrong roofless and you were to coin a phrase “a t&at” if you drove your car without the roof i decided that i dont really care what others think and completed a soft top conversion a couple of months ago, just in time for 4 weeks rain!
During this good weather me and my son have had some great drives up into the peak district, cat and fiddle, longnor, buxton etc sans roof and other than thinking it looks back heavy, less agressive / resolved as a car, once im in it and enjoying the drive a really dont think about it.
as far as stability i think it is more the flow of air into the cabin that gives that impression rather than the cars dynamics and i’ve pushed pretty hard (without the son on board!!) to test it out.
so call me what you like but i love driving my car without its roof on in the right conditions.

Roof on windows down gets enough environment into the car for me.
Drove the gfs Smart cabriolet Sunday with the roof down. We were only out for a few hours but I still managed to get quite burnt. It’s certainly more tiring with roof off than on.
