I’ve been driving Lotus’ for around 5 years, Elan, Elise S160 and now an Exige. I’ve never had any trouble with the Police (I’ve been lucky), but it’s also because I save serious driving for when i’m on the many track days I do, no point in smashing your car up on the road and loosing your licence.
Well I picked up my Orange Exige last Friday (7 days ago) and i’ve been stopped by the Police twice. The first one asked me if it was my car, why did I buy such a car for the road etc…
The second one said “Look sonny, I know you have a fast car, but don’t get racing it, I had to do 80 mph (in a 40) to catch you up, and this is just a diesel, that’s all i’m going to say” and then drove off.
I don’t understand why he mentioned his diesel? and the reason he had to do 80mph to catch me up was because when he saw me we were on opposite sides of a dual carrageway with a big island in between and I was doing the 40 mph speed limit.
Has anyone else encountered pre-speeding warnings from Police?
I might hold someting of a record here. 5 stops (and producers) in 10 days in Weymouth. Reasons ranged from ‘a member of the public complained that you just passed them at 100 mph’ (b@ll@cks, more like 40mph) to ‘why did you drive so close to our patrol car’ (because you were doing 18mph and I was going to pass you).
Once the local fuzz get used to it, they will leave you alone (hopefully).
If you look young and/or your area is ronowned for joyriding problems then you will be stopped again, again and again. Most Plods are not that bright, really
I had the Plods following me for 10 miles before getting bored, would’ve thought they have better things to do…err, like catching the bad guys
Stopped a few weeks ago for ‘looking fast’ doing 40mph in a 50!
Ian
lol!!
I’ve got this all to look forward too!!
And I’ve just been pulled for the first time ever in my VX tonight… mind you I was asking for it… gave it a little bit too much welly coming out of a junction and shot straight past a patrol car… oooooops
