The origin of the "Gotham" name as in Ronin-Gotham

My Exige has the Ronin-Gotham upgrade carried out at Essex Autosport for it’s previous owner.

I’m new to lotus ownership but the kind folks on Seloc have explained the history behind the ECU tuning/upgrade (Ronin and CharlieX)

I’m still left wondering what the name “Gotham” signifies.

I’ve seen a black US Exige with Gotham plates in youtube videos and also found a photoshoot of the same car. I have no idea if this car is related to the Ronin Gotham upgrade but it has made a cool desktop background!

Anyone have any idea where the “gotham” part of the name comes from?

Please don’t all say Batman at once!

Frank (aka Ronin) will be along soon, he might well know why the names of the Yota upgrades are called what they are

 Gotham was the name Charlie applied to his software for tuning the stock Lotus ecu… The ronin part was me since Charlie typed as I dictated the tune as we drove through the desert at warp speed… I spent major dyno bucks and time working with Charlie to perfect the tuning software… In the end he flaked out on me and left me hangin while he raked in the bucks…

It’s funny when the truth finaly comes out… :astonished:

The Gotham Exige you’ve seen has nothing to do with Charlie or myself…
Charlie is out of the tuning biz and off the grid so to say and on to bigger geekyer endeavors…

Cheers Frank - it all makes perfect sense now.

I’d run out of ideas as to the Gotham part of the name (yours was easy to figure out  ) and assumed the black US Exige with the Gotham plates was something to do with the development…that and the fact it looks a little like a Bat mobile

…and I’ve just found out that the black “Gotham” car is infact from western Australia!

Don’t believe the bullshit you read on Seloc since they know less than nothing there…
I started the aftermarket Lotus supercharger kit with a modified Greddy Celica kit I modified at my old shop Tri-Point Engerring and tuned it with an Exedy piggy back ecu. After seeing that the stock Lotus ecu was correcting the changes back to stock the quest to modify the stock ecu begain… Charlie lived down the road from me so it was easy to drive over or he came to my place to do the testing…

Here is the very first video we did when I got the car out of the shop…over 5 yrs. ago with the Exedy piggyback.
